Now what's this going to be like there now? Aurora alert: Severe geomagnetic storm could spark northern lights as far south as Alabama and northern California tonight I think there's going to be some culture shock.

I saw the northern lights outside the window of a plane once. It felt like we were flying right through them.

Saw the Northern lights a few times while in Montana and Alberta. Pretty and eerie at the same time. Beautiful hues of green and blue dancing in the night sky.

Right. It feels like there should be some 'cosmic' musical accompaniment with them as they dance around.

In “The Northern Lights,” historical scene painter John Paul Strain depicts Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee and other Southern officers riding underneath an unusually vivid aurora borealis on Dec. 14, 1862, after the South had scored a victory in the Battle of Fredericksburg.

“An Aurora Borealis, marvelous in beauty,” Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain of the 20th Maine wrote of burying his fallen Union comrades.

“Fiery lances of gold — all pointing and beckoning upward. Befitting scene! Who would die a nobler death, or dream of more glorious burial? Dead for their country’s honor, and lighted to burial by the meteor splendors of their Northern home!”

Historic aurora seen in Virginia recalls another from Civil War history.

Very large Solar Storm occurred last night , or right now if it got slowed down more than the experts think our weakening magnetic field is capable of achieving .

Aimed right at us and some tech disruption likely .

Video is 3 minutes total . Daily and highly informative .
Accuracy -- gold standard

I saw them on the beach in Galveston several years ago. It might have just been the mushrooms, but it was cool anyway.
