Defending the Doha strike targeting Hamas chiefs, Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon says the attack “sends a message that should echo across this chamber.”
“There is no sanctuary for terrorists, not in Gaza, not in Tehran, not in Doha. There is no immunity for terrorists,” Danon tells the Security Council. “We will act against the leaders of terror wherever they are hiding.”
His comments come after the Security Council issued a rare joint statement condemning the strike in Doha, though it didn’t mention Israel by name.
So the UNSC condemned the attack because it was a violation of Qatari sovereignty, but did not condemn Israel for trying to kill the Hamas criminals who were there not to talk about peace but to demand payment to stop torturing and murdering Israeli hostages, and the payment they are demanding is a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza so they can rearm and launch another attack to capture and torture more Israeli hostages.
Clearly, that price could not be paid, so the talks Qatar was hosting could not have led to a positive outcome; the question is, did the Qataris know this and sponsor the talks to help Hamas buy time before the terror group was destroyed, and if so are the Qataris complicit in Hamas' crimes? As the Prime Minister pointed out, when Afghanistan gave safe haven to al Qaeda, the US invaded Afghanistan and toppled its government and when Bin Laden fled to Pakistan the US violated the sovereignty of Pakistan to kill Bin Laden, so how can it be wrong for Israel to try to kill the Hamas criminals Qatar is hosting?
