Slavery has modernized along with the diversity of profitable uses of human servitude. Historically, slavery was primarily a source of slave labor related to crops, construction, household servantry, animal keeping and the like in return for food, meager lodgings and sometimes clothing. As the world becomes more crowded and cultures intertwine by way of legal and illegal immigration, the opportunities to enslave others for personal gain increase numerically and characteristically. The UK today may have more than 100,000 modern day slaves with various roles to play in the industry.
