As expected, Canada quickly caves on electricity tariff

He has the right to do exactly that.

Sure he does. He has done it his entire spoiled life.

No one ever said TRUMP! is not impulsive or not prone to outbursts. That's one reason why I wouldn't want to either work for him or live with him.

Wonderful attributes for a president I suppose.

Canada to impose 25% retaliatory tariffs on $21 billion worth of U.S. goods

Canada said Wednesday it will impose 25% tariffs on more than $20 billion worth of U.S. goods in retaliation for the Trump administration’s steel and aluminum duties that took effect overnight.

The new tariffs cover steel and aluminum, as well as other U.S. goods including computers, sports equipment and cast iron products, Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc said at a press conference.

They will take effect Thursday, LeBlanc said.

The new Canadian duties are on top of the 25% counter-tariffs that Ottawa slapped on $30 billion worth of U.S. goods on March 4, in response to President Donald Trump’s imposition of broad-based tariffs on Canadian imports.

Those tariffs remain in place, despite Trump issuing partial tariffs exemptions on March 6 following a severe stock market sell off.

Canada has charged tariffs on American goods for decades. Have you always been a supporter of that?

It was all a part of a negotiated trade deal. As for me, I'm generally not supportive of trade deals. Government shouldn't be directing how people trade.

The are personality characteristics that don't reduce his effectiveness as president. Hey, at least you guys don't have to be worried about being wounded by mean tweets.

Trade Fight Widens as Europe and Canada Retaliate Against Trump Tariffs

Global trade turmoil deepened on Wednesday as the European Union and Canada announced billions of dollars in retaliatory tariffs on U.S. exports, hours after President Trump’s across-the-board levies on steel and aluminum imports took effect. Economists worry that the trade fight instigated by Mr. Trump will over time dent economic growth and lift U.S. consumer prices, which rose slightly less than expected in February, according to inflation data released Wednesday.

Mr. Trump has appeared undeterred by the uncertainty and fear that his tariffs, targeted at friends and foes alike, have injected into the global economy, rattling markets around the globe. He has not ruled out the possibility that his policies could cause a recession in the United States.

Apparently, other countries want to be richer and more powerful too. ;)

Even after this, the cult will not understand what Trump is doing with his tariff announcements. This is how you get people to the table without rolling over, exposing your belly, and begging for mercy, i.e. the way Obama and Biden "negotiated" everything.

On to the next one you people won't understand.

Trump is causing Americans a lot of economic pain....including the imbeciles such as yourself who voted for him.

Nobody "wins" in a trade war, imbecile.

Exactly! You support the Canadian tariffs on American goods that have been in place for 100 years, right?

Great

But not at the expense of America and American workers
