The iconic Hollywood actor Leo DiCaprio portrays clever American con-man Frank Abagnale, Jr. in Steven Spielberg's Catch Me If You Can and a nihilism-pensive American traveller named Richard in Danny Boyle's The Beach.

Frank represents 'American thrift' while Richard represents isolationism.

Here's a culture-themed exchange between DC Comics' Toyman and Green Arrow regarding capitalism virtue/value and the motivational quality of civilization improvement oriented missions such as the monitoring of toxic-waste.

Anyone a fan of Batteries Not Included?

Signing off (thanks),

Green Arrow (Oliver Queen) had to contend with the villainous and cynical Toyman (Jack Nimball) about the value of Hess gas-station model toy-trucks being sold in America. Toyman hated capitalism and believed these 'consumerism trinkets' were all vain and therefore designed destructive remote-control operated toy-vehicles fitted with explosives and drove them into gas stations to create chaos. Green Arrow's job was to intercept Toyman finally and convince him that capitalism should be safeguarded for the sake of democracy in the modern world. Arrow decided to debate with Toyman about the American symbolism of the Hollywood actor Leo DiCaprio's iconic performances in the two new millennium films The Beach and Catch Me If You Can, so Toyman would be less 'cynical' about the spiritual value of Planet Hollywood 'culture' in modern civilization.

ARROW: Consider the sanctity of capitalism/consumerism and end this anarchy!
TOYMAN: Never...
ARROW: Look; Leo DiCaprio's portrayal of a con-man and alienist are symbolic.
TOYMAN: I care nothing for Planet Hollywood culture.
ARROW: No! The Beach and Catch Me If You Can represent American intelligence.
TOYMAN: I care nothing for Danny Boyle or Steven Spielberg.
ARROW: Listen; DiCaprio's portrayal of 'Richard' and 'Frank' represent intellectualism.
TOYMAN: Alright; Frank Abagnale was a symbolic con-man, and Richard is a nihilist.
ARROW: Precisely; two very different characters signifying something special.
TOYMAN: What?
ARROW: Frank is a con-man symbolizing American happiness regarding consumer traffic.
TOYMAN: And Richard?
ARROW: Richard is a freelance 'nihilism-pupil' symbolizing angst regarding isolationism.
TOYMAN: So? Frank represents networks, while Richard represents loneliness...
ARROW: There's real magic there. DiCaprio made those two films as 'complements.'
TOYMAN: How do you know that?
ARROW: It's a safe conjecture, since DiCaprio's body of work represents American pride.
TOYMAN: Alright, I like DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street.
ARROW: You must understand that DiCaprio tried to express American values.
TOYMAN: Alright; Richard illuminates human eccentricity, and Frank is human imagination.
ARROW: Precisely; cinema captures a social wonder about human habits.
TOYMAN: What's so special about 'human habits,' Arrow?
ARROW: Jack, human habits fill in all the 'feathers' of capitalism (e.g., eBay).
TOYMAN: Are you suggesting that I reject terrorism in the name of commercial giddiness?
ARROW: Yes! Do you know why American kids like Toxic-Waste Sour Candy?
TOYMAN: That brand of candy (Toxic-Waste Sour Candy) symbolizes playfulness...
ARROW: It also reveals that youngsters care about civilization!
TOYMAN: Alright; I concede that consumerism creates 'idealism tokens.'
ARROW: Never destroy 'imagination tokens.' We'd become...savage.
TOYMAN: Are you a born-again Christian or some kind of Scientology advocate?
ARROW: I'm a fan of human teamwork and spiritual kindness. I'm a fan of EWTN.
TOYMAN: Are you a fan of Al Jazeera TV?
ARROW: I don't mind anything that contributes to free-speech philosophy!
TOYMAN: Buy me some Toxic-Waste Sour Candy, and I'll quietly disappear (in peace).

Arrow realized Toyman was satisfied with Arrow's presentation of Planet Hollywood intellect and accepted Arrow's gift of Toxic-Waste Sour Candy. Arrow also gave Toyman a special punk-rock toxic-waste omen sticker, so Toyman would meditate on why Leo DiCaprio was so artistically invested in cultural improvement oriented folklore/storytelling. Arrow recommended that Toyman investigate DiCaprio's eco-activism group The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, and Toyman promised Arrow that he would do that (once he retired to his secret island somewhere in the Pacific). Toyman disappeared and was never seen again, so his reign of terror ended, and Arrow congratulated himself for rescuing American capitalism from the clutches of 'pure political cynicism.'
