Frightened little conservatives afraid they are gonna lose their toys.
When the Human progenitor came down from the trees, having neither fangs, nor claws, nor exceptional strength, they were ill-equipped for survival in a world of dangerous predators. But they did have the capability for conceptual thought which eventually led them to the idea that a fallen tree branch or a sharp stone could be used to strike a predator with and injure or kill it.
Thus the concept of weaponry was initiated, which progressed eventually to development of the spear, the sling, the dagger, the sword, the bow, the crossbow, the explosive (catapult) projectile and, finally -- the firearm.
The science of weaponry has enabled Man to not only survive in the world but to dominate it. And it is the inventor and the user of the most potent weapons which determines which Human sub-species prevails in the world.
The affinity for and appreciation of weapons is not a
fetish. It is the gift which Nature has imparted to the male gender of the Human species, and those males who possess and who have mastered the use of the most effective weapons always will prevail over the others of his kind.
So if you are not among those males for whom weaponry is not a natural inclination perhaps your interests are more in keeping with such things as sewing machines, cooking utensils, and other similarly useful survival tools.
