Deficits are because spending is greater than revenue, full stop. Normal people in that situation look at their budget and either get another job, or more likely, cut unnecessary spending to bring it back in line.

Democrats have put themselves in the position of insisting that absolutely nothing be cut from the budget (that we must not even be allowed to see what the spending actually is and if there's any fraud) and that we continue using credit cards to maintain a fictional standard of living. The ultimate crash will be all the worse for that mindset, but they have to oppose any and everything Orange Man does, because reasons and TDS. After Orange Man leaves office, they hope to return to the normal way of doing business, which means no cuts anywhere on anything, only annual increases plus any new things they can think of to spend on.

I made the point in another thread that some POT (party of trump) members of Congress are being put in a difficult position. OTOH, they do not want to be seen as not being in lockstep with MAGA doctrine. I mean absolute lockstep, since we know anything less than total acquiescence is considered to be heresy by the MAGA thought police.
