Anyone Ever Watch the Show Taboo?

I was looking through some of the highest rated shows in Kodi and came across Taboo with Tom Hardy. I just started watching the first episode. Has anyone watched it yet? Is it any good? Seems quite weird so far.

It's a show out of the how-hideous-can-we-make-the-18th/19th-centuries-look genre, a genre that is getting beaten to death lately (but not really in a bad way)

but it has a complex plot and great characters.
