Anyone else notice a .30 cent spike in gas prices? Here's why.

I commented last week how Biden's action could cause a spike in gas prices.....Well it wasn't long in coming was it?

President Joe Biden is making a change before he leaves the presidency that could saddle President-elect Donald Trump’s administration with higher gas prices.

He waited until now to enact new sanctions against Russia that are likely to raise prices at the pump as Trump prepares to take back the White House, and he would not answer questions about his reasons for it.

A reporter asked him at the press conferences why he waited so long to impose the sanctions, and did it right before Trump regained the presidency.

“Mr. President, you talked about gas prices coming down. You made today’s decision about sanctions against Russia. Are you concerned that that decision will perhaps lead to gas prices going up? And can you explain why those sanctions were imposed today and not earlier in the term?” the reporter said.

From what I understand Russia said "well FU", and cut their production.....Along with the Saudis planned 1 million a barrel cut it drove up the price and we are now paying for it.

I've noticed no such recent rise here in Twin Falls, Idaho. Cheap gas is at $2.97 gal at the Walmart. Sinclair is $3.05. Both of those prices haven't moved in at least a week.

It went from $2.79 to $3.09 in just a couple of days here. It's still $2.99 in a couple of the less frequented stations.

Averaging $2.66/Gal, same as in Nov/Dec here.

It's been so long that I forgot what I paid for gas the last time I filled up.

I get my gas from a stand alone fleet station so I don't pay much attention but I pass by one of the more frequented stations every day going into town so I notice it.

I only fill up the SOUL about once every two weeks. ;)

I fill my Grand Marquis about once a month. I don't drive to work and my other driving is minimal.

You are a troll. Your sources sucks ass, one of the worse of the worst. They easily mislead fools like you and then you either double down on stupid, or you are trying your hand at this whole propaganda thing. Let's begin with the thread title. We got two problems. First, what flippin thirty cent jump? As noted by other posters who state that their gas prices have remained stable. I can throw my hat in that ring as well. Been $2.65 at Murphy's by Walmart, always the cheapest. Amazingly, been $2.71 at the closest gas station to my house. It is $2.82 in town. All those prices have been the same for my last two fill-ups, which is about six weeks, LOL.

But second, even if prices did spike by thirty cents, the "Here is why" seems to imply that it was Biden, and these new sanctions. But then, to add even more comedy to the matter, there were no "new" sanctions. So now let us go to the OP linked article.

Biden issues last minute order that could raise gas prices
Two important words there, "order" and "could". Those words were not "new sanctions" and "did". But then after the title the author goes completely off the rails. Take a look at this.

“The sanctions are imposed today because they will have a profound effect on the growth of the Russian economy and make it more difficult for Putin to conduct his wars,” the president said.

“It is probable that gas prices could increase as much as three, four cents a gallon. But what’s going to have a more profound impact on Russia’s ability to continue to act in the way it’s acting in a conduct of war,” she said.
Is someone having a gender problem? I mean WTF, "she"? You can get free software that would alert you do such grammatical mistakes. What about real living and breathing editors? At then, well that is it. Then it off to the Conahan. I mean why the hell wouldn't they lead with that. I have been aware of the Conahan case from the beginning of his trial. Horrendous, WTF, commuting his sentence.

But let's stick to the topic at hand. The socalled "new sanctions".

On January 15, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a news release that Moscow had sought ways to circumvent sanctions imposed by the U.S. after Russia began a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The Treasury has therefore re-listed more than 100 Russian companies and individuals under Executive Order 13662, which then-President Barack Obama signed in March 2014 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine's Crimea region.

The companies are already under sanction. But under a sanction that could be reversed by another EO. By relisting the companies under EO 13662 the Treasury Department has eliminated the possibility of lifting those sanctions through and EO, it would take an act of Congress.

Now, just for shits and giggles. If this action really did result in a thirty cent spike in the price of gasoline, what does that tell you? The market has priced in the fact that Trump will get down on his knees and attempt to find Putin's @)*^@_ in an all station's broadcast. Here, have Ukraine. Can we buy some of your oil. And we are getting really tired of supplying the world with Natural Gas, can you step in. I got to get gas and energy prices down for my marks.

Matter of fact, why don't you keep moving westward. Let's just go ahead and have an all out war. Maybe you got some biological warfare agents you can unleash on these stupid ass suckers that voted for me. I mean I get another "pandemic", the restaurants, theatres, and malls close. Millions laid off and millions more working remote. Gas prices will go down for damn sure. And the stupid shits will applaud me for it.

Lucky you. In california paying about $2.00 more per gallon.
Thanks. Pays to choose a conservative state to work, raise family and retire in.

Damn, you are special kind of stupid.....The article was written on the 12th....It did not take long for gas prices to rise as a result.....I doubt if it was mere coincidence.

I just paid $4.29 a gallon for Shell's 93 octane.

I believe it was around $3.94 for the 93 octane a couple of weeks ago at the same station.

I didn't even look at the price of their regular 87 octane, so couldn't say what that is.

That's here in Tater's home state, btw.

Ah...aren't you a liberal, White? :)
No. Moderate, leaning conservative. It is often confused on here, because I thoroughly disapprove of Trump, and he certainly is not conservative in action, speech, morality, self-discipline or policy, simply a self-serving populist above all else.
