I always thought it was cool. A lot of the old comedians were raised on it, apparently, the eastern European ones.

That was a great show; good writing and cast. Wish they would rerun that series here. The Retired astronaut, the hermit Chef, and the Eskimo secretary were my favorite characters.

I abhor language phonies...Italians who know a dozen words in Italian and pretend to actually speak the language, same for Hispanics, and same for jews. Most jews know a few words of Yiddish and they pretend to speak it.

Foreign language always had an effect on American culture. We speak primarily English because England settled the New World. Canadians speak French and English for the same reason. Jewish immigrants in NY impacted eastern slang and Spanish words became a part of the old west. Does it come as a surprise to pop-culture video game educated Americans that some of the common slang has a colorful foreign origin?
