Shows the impact of Trump on US/Canada relations
Trump has poisoned the well
Gretzky is Canadas biggest hero
The Stink of Trump is upon him
He captained the Oilers to four Stanley Cups and did so at the right time following the NY Islanders dominance (and Miracle on Ice in 1980 when America upset the Russians) thus putting little cold Edmonton on the map. He then married a beautiful American actress, moved to L.A and made the NHL a more recognizable phenomenon in the U.S. Did more for the sport than any player before him as Jordan did for basketball.
Just as Bobby Orr the greatest defenseman supported Trump it seems talented, driven Canadians support him in the face of whiny global socialists, most of them too ignorant to even appreciate that men MUCH greater than they or I died on the beaches of Europe, some not even having kissed a woman so that fascism would not prevail and liberty would.
How big is Gretzky in Canada? When his father Walter died and I heard the news my wife looked at me as we both heard the news and she said "you're crying aren't you". I was. His father Walter was such a well known figure and a peaceful, genuine man who felt like we all knew personally. His funeral was covered nationally on CBC! THAT is how big the Gretzky family is in Canada.
Furthermore, and this might upset some on the left; Waynes background is Ukranian, I think on his dads side, his grandma I believe. Also, I saw a very old video in which Wayne was just in the NHL for a year or two, maybe still in the WHL or even the Juniors but he was very young, and he was over in Russia having dinner with a family there. It was captured on grainy video as they were having a conversation with their Russia hosts, laughing, talking about similarities between people. I remember seeing this at the time and thinking "this is not a good look for Wayne". Well, what do the left think of this now decades later? Should this ensure his cancellation?
He is a full grown man, he lives in America and has for decades, his family are all American and he is free to have opinions, probably realizes how much Canada has changed for the worst. So, what's wrong if he likes the support for the working class and peace that Trump offers?
