If Israel did that then hamas would re-arm and get more powerful weapons to target Israeli children with. This would lead to Israel bombing gaza back to the stone age and wiping out the arab muslims in gaza once and for all.

Is that the best you can do a partisan BLOG that has no foundation in reality. If this came about and hamas destroyed Sderot and all the people living there who would you blame for the mass murder and genocide, and what would you expect the Israeli action to be. It's not pessimism -- it's reality.. Gaza can bring in cargo that has been inspected in the neighboring Israeli port. When the Independent state of Gaza chooses representation that cares more about economic opportunity and infrastructure than they do about the destruction of Israel -- everyone can go back to the ORIGINAL AGREEMENT when Israel vacated Gaza. Negotiations for a seaport, customs inspections, reopening the Gaza airport, etc.. That was the original Israel agreed to before Hamas started to murder and purge their political opposition in Gaza..
