The report said that Monday about 2:40 a.m., Turner came out of his apartment to find the men trying to use a screwdriver to break into his car.

Turner fired a "warning shot" from his .45-caliber handgun into the air as he ran toward them, the report said. Turner fired another shot at one of them, and as the men were fleeing in their vehicle, he fired again at the car in an attempt to shoot out a tire, the report said.

A friend of mine did something similar.

A guy was trying to break into his car in broad daylight, so he took his .357 and fired a shot into the sidewalk and scared the guy off.
