Allergies: Dubious Diagnosis and Treatment

I get tired of celebrities and athletes claiming they have food allergies.

They are so dumb they can't do a google search to find out quacks are taking advantage of them.

So many people claim they are allergic to gluten. It's ridiculous. Something like less than 1% of people are actually allergic to gluten.

These people are a bunch of hypochondriacs.

If I'm not mistaken that gluten thing is celiac sprue. People still have that and it is diagnosable. Food allergies are becoming more prevalent and they can be deadly. Case in point: peanut products.

Thankfully Americans have no idea what they should and should not eat. They just blindly follow the Food Pyramid which is now a Food Plate but it's the same f*ckin' thing.

The Food Plate is filled with all sorts of sh*t the government subsidizes. Doesn't mean it's healthy, but they have to promote it anyway, you health be damned.

Peanuts have to be properly prepared, a phrase most Americans don't know.

An allergy to peanuts has nothing to do with preparation. The person with the allergy is allergic to all peanut products including peanut oil.

I have to disagree that Americans follow any kind of eating plan. If they did, there wouldn't be so much obesity.

When I was growing up as a kid, I didn't even know allergies existed. Oh, I knew, but it was some vague thing that didn't affect our lives. I swear that all through school until I graduated from high school, there was maybe one person who suffered from allergies. I remember her because she was a blond with pale skin and her eyes and nose were always red and dribbling.

I always say I don't believe in allergies, therefore I can't have them. It's kind of the power of positive thinking. I got stung by a hornet last summer and was a bit nervous for a while until I realized I have absolutely no allergy to the bee sting. Nor did any of my dogs. We all got stung. Good to know...one less allergy I DON'T have.

People talk about their allergies almost as if they're proud of them. Nothing to be proud of. It is a weakness that could prove deadly in a survival situation or a situation where you cannot get medical help.

Occasionally I'll have some sinus trouble, runny nose, that sort of thing. The last thing I do is start saying maybe I have allergies to dust or pollen, etc. You don't want to EMBRACE something like allergies, you want to shoo them away. Not welcome HERE, allergies!!!! Works for me.

I have to agree with you on that, Sunshine! If they adhered to the food pyramid they wouldn't be able to shovel down so much fast food and guzzle so many giant sodas! : ) They might actually eat a vegetable once in a while.

Not all Americans, now. Let's be fair. Some do try to eat a healthy diet.

Every thing is bad for you so I will just eat what tastes good to me.

A lot of people have allergies. The ones who jump on every fad bandwagon are the tiring ones. 50% of the population claim they can't eat bread now lol.
