My Old Lady and I are planning a trip to California, with a stop at Yosemite being the highlight.

I just went into the Delta site to firm up my seat selections. On the trip from Atlanta to LAX, they want A HUNDRED DOLLARS NOT to sit in a middle seat.

Is this fucking insane or what? Charging for checked bags is also kind of insane (won't be doing that).

The worst part of flying for me is standing in the mob of people waiting for "Steerage" to be called, after the 27 different categories of "special" passengers who get to go on before me.

They have devolved the experience of air travel from something to look forward to and enjoy, to a dreaded, awful experience. TSA bullshit is just the icing on the cake. If ever there was a Federal agency whose raison d'etat had expired, that is it.

A silver lining just appeared. We use a CapOne credit card all the time and pay no attention to the "points." On a whim, My Old Lady started cashing in the points for this trip and saved about two grand in total. Fukkinaye! That's real money!
