Now if you love eggs, get some ducks/chickens, once setup you get fresh eggs every day, seven days a week. Duck eggs are quite a bit larger than chicken eggs and they cook/poach/fry just the same.

I have a theory too that I wish we'd tried when we setup our chicken enclosure and that is get one female duck and say four to six chickens (no rooster), raise them all together from chicks. If you do that all of the chickens will naturally regard the larger duck as boss and there'll be no infighting between the chickens.

Our duck is large, clumsy but passive and has no nasty streak in her, the chickens that were raised as chicks with her when she was also a chick, adore the duck and follow her everywhere.

The duck isn't the boss and has no desire to be, but the chickens that were raised with her, see her as boss and do not fight or compete amongst themselves to be boss.
