Why does "What's new" list old stuff that's active while "Active Topics" mostly provides new topics having no apparent activity other than being "read" by bots?

I asked that same question a long time ago. The question went pretty much unacknowledged as I recall.

But whatever. I mainly just click on ''latest activity'' or ''new posts'' anyway.
