It is amazing, but that is how they think! Sometimes I wonder how they manage to dress themselves w/o help.
It is because ideology and toeing the party line trump all else.
politically speaking I am almost always against the government being involved in such things. But my views on abortion outweigh my views on limited government. For the sake of having fewer abortions I would favor the government handing out BC to everyone for free. The money saved in social services would cover the cost with some left over
I would totally support free (taxpayer funded) birth control on demand, so long as it is tied to a ban on elective abortions.
That would be the perfect scenario, but I will not let perfect be the enemy of good. If free BC to all cut abortions by 20% that would be 200,000ish less abortions per year. That sounds like a win.
I am not willing to make compromises with the Constitutional rights of anyone. Either we are all equally entitled to the EQUAL protections of our laws, or we are not. Deciding that one group of human beings (prenatal children) have no rights because that would be a huge inconvenience to others is unacceptable to me.
But you are willing to violate the privacy rights of women, likewise violating the Constitution.
And it is a settled, accepted fact of Constitutional law – beyond dispute – that prior to birth an embryo/fetus has no Constitutional rights, where prior to birth the rights of the woman are paramount, as it should be.
Fortunately, whether that’s acceptable to you and other authoritarian rightists is legally and Constitutionally irrelevant.
