A new research paper looking at concealed carry laws and violent crime...

Using these new estimators, we find that RTC laws do not significantly increase total violent crime or any of its components, murder, rape, robbery or assault. We find evidence that RTC laws significantly reduce murder and that constitutional carry laws significantly reduce rape.

That's the opening statement on the website run by Sharon Preston, a local woman who says she's trained about 4,000 women in how to handle a firearm. About 75 percent of her focus is introducing them to the sport of shooting. The other 25 percent is focused on self-defense. Many women seek her training to qualify for a concealed carry permit.


Preston's company, "Ladies of Lead," has been in operation in Redmond for five years and she sees no decline in interest among women to learn how to shoot and protect themselves. Preston says crime continues to rise in Deschutes County and Central Oregon—particularly the number of rape cases, drug-related crimes and even sex trafficking.

How did they allow this upstart to get funded? I thought we had strict vetting protocols for anyone that wanted to publish a scholarly study!! Now we will have to spend a small fortune of our government grant discrediting these rebels! Someone will lose their job, that's all I have to say. Hmph.

A Chandler, Arizona cop said it best. In this state you can't single someone out for looking like an easy victim. " Because everyone is armed and will unload on your ass" or something like that.
