There's quite a bit many people on this forum, nevermind the entire world, can learn about how to treat each other from the story of Jack Daniel and Nathan Green. Jack was orphaned as a young child and Nathan was a slave. Both lived and worked for the same man. Nathan took Jack under his wing and became a mentor/best friend.

He learned the craft from both the preacher who took him in, and a slave on the farm.
Having said that, Nathan was the real talent.

There are a number of stories like this. But when they get presented, by others who are not white, the stories are dissed as revisionist history.

I read the story. It seems the only "revisionist history" in play here is properly revising history to acknowledge. Mr. Green's expertise and role in the creation of Jack Daniels Whiskey. Also from the story, Mr. Green was "instructed" to share his knowledge with young Jack and then later developed a friendship with him. I'm a stickler for accuracy.

Once, many years ago, I got to take a tour of Jack Daniels distillery. I recommend it to anyone with an interest in history, and whiskey It was one of the coolest tours I have ever been on.

How many free shots did you do? :)
It's in a dry county, maybe that is changed, but they can't serve or sell whiskey. But I had a glass of cold lemonade.

Bummer! Every beer or winery tour I've been on has free samples.

Another instance of racist white supremacists changing American history to serve their nefarious purposes.

Excellent thread OP!

Did any of you catch the part where Nathan Green's relatives have been a continuous part of the distillery family since the beginning?

Reparations are needed to fix this harm.
