Here it is, $103.59 a kilo. This is $46.95 per pound.

$31/lbs US here at Safeway ... $68.20/kg US ... 93 quid 4 shilling Canadian ... the Safeway product will still have the whip marks where the Argentine jockey was beating ... somehow I think Laura has better quality ...

Don't you folks up there have whale blubber to eat instead? ...

CA$46.95/lb is only US$34.30/lb. Still seems a little high.

At the local Safeway market here in the SF Bay Area, a 1lb tenderloin is $28.99/lb, about 20% less. But if you shop at Whole Foods, you'll pay $42.99/lb for it.

I will have to get back. My friends sold me 1/4 of a calf and then they left for their vacation. The meat got cut and as soon as my friends get back, I will report to them the hanging weight of the animal and we'll figure out the price. (I've already paid for cutting -- amazingly, the same price per pound hubby and I paid for cutting the beef we bought 11 years ago!)

While I happened to be shopping at my local Lucky Supermarket last weekend, they had a blue light special - boneless rib eyes for $6.99/lb. I bought two and grilled one over the weekend. It was exquisite. I served it with sauteed mushrooms and a bearnaise sauce.

I'll have the other one in a week or so.
