This is a tale that needs to be told. Punk music is generally thought of a white music. The true originators were black. Bobby Hackney, Dannis Hackney, David Hackney (RIP) and currently, Bobbie Duncan. Bobby, Dannis, and Bobbie Duncan are friends of mine. I text with Bobbie daily. They never 'made it in the 1970's. The reason being the name. The record companies would not sign them unless they changed the name. David (principal songwriter and leader) refused. Their music was shelved for 30 years. The world would not hear of them until the early 2000's. Here is a video of their story.
