We are reentering an Age of Darkness most notable for the death of reason. Symptoms abound. But why?

Author suggests: (quotes in italics)
  • Death of reason - “70% of Republicans believe the election was stolen, [America] a land where fundamentalist religion has poisoned culture and bigotry and hate has rendered politics a fools game.”
  • Consolidation of wealth into a few elites and the death of the middle class/ working class - “The wealth of billionaires increased by about 50% during the pandemic. Think about that for a second. The world’s handful of richest people grew unimaginably wealthier while millions of people were dying.”
  • Democracy is under assault - “Trumpism in America, Modi’s fanatical religious supremacism in India, Britain’s fervid, idiotic Brexit nationalism, and so on. Even in Canada and Europe, fanatical right wing movements have made significant inroads towards destabilising society.”
  • Neo-fascism is flourishing - “The bargain of modernity is not working out very well for working classes. Fascism is about purity of blood, the idea that some people are subhuman, and some superhuman. Below them come the subhumans, whose bloodlines are tainted by violence, laziness, stupidity, and so forth.”
  • The world regressed not progressed. - “All our efforts to make a fairer, better, nobler world — they stalled, and went into reverse, and all that happened before the pandemic.”

Yeah we are returning to the dark ages alright because Biden stole the election and got the war machine serving the elite who want to destroy America so yeah we are indeed returning to the dark again.

Where's you latest evidence he stole the election? How about decisions from the authorities that prove it was stolen?
Got anything like that?
Of course not. All you have is a deranged mind controlling a big angry mouth. You are low IQ and assume all your derision of me will stop me posting or prove your point. Sorry mate. You've got nothing.

Arizona will have the proof shortly. Apparently there are enough ballots missing to decertify the election. Sit tight dummy.

Since we've already had a guy stand up and suggest imbibing disinfectants and sticking UV lights where the sun don't shine as treatments for a virus, and where vaccines are shunned..I'm waiting for the inevitable "well, leeches will work wonders!".
It is amazing how many people in this country are pliable and malleable enough to believe there was a massive conspiracy to steal an election. It's a plot straight out of the TV series..Scandal! :)

Yet you still believe that Russia stole it from Hillary....

No you keep parroting that. Russian did aid Trump in his election. That's been confirmed by 17 intelligence agencies. Don Jr and his crew were there at Trump Tower that day to try and lay their hands on the stolen emails that Wikileaks obtained. Fortunately, it looks like someone in that meeting saved Trumpbear's boy from committing election seppuku. :)

Nothing I saw in the conduct of the election of 2016 would make me think Republican operatives stole it.
Trump had it pretty good up until he decided to fire Comey. After that, everything he did..he did to himself.

Still pushing that debunked 17 intel agencies lie I see. You commies really need to come up with new material.

If they are missing how does anyone know what they say? You're not real smart are you?
I'll predict now, they can have ten audits and the nothing will change. You are calling electoral officials all over the country frauds, cheats and liars.
That's the same people who counted the votes to elect trump. Where was your conspiracy theory or election fraud then?
Stay out of the debate son. You have nothing.

If they do not have the ballots they do not win. It is that simple. No wonder you post that crap, simple is way over your head.

The pieces you quoted that focused entirely on Republicans and TRUMP! while totally ignoring the rejection of biological science by the democrats is enough for the whole thing to be ignored as yet another partisan hit piece.

You are assuming the ballots were all written to suit Biden. 8 million of them strategically placed all over the country for revelation at the appropriate time and surprise surprise they had just enough votes. How coincidental is that. Even if it were true it was a brilliant move that republicans should adopt.

Your problem is me continually pointing out the stupidity and impossibility of the likelihood of your scenario. That is exacerbated by you providing no evidence. It's taking you a while to accept defeat.

And, of course, we are all very aware that the next time a Republican wins, the same people insisting this was the most secure election ever (just 4 years after shrieking that Russia! stole the whole thing and TRUMP! supposedly not doing anything about it) will be running in circles screaming bloody murder that once again the election was stolen because of some FaceBook ads, or something. They'll be demanding targeted recounts in counties they think they should have won but didn't.

Inequity has been getting worse for decades prior to pandemic. The widening of it during pandemic is a result of years in failures of leadership - both sides.

Can we agree the rift between the top and bottom is too big right now? Or do you think levels are fine? If like everyone else you agree it’s too lopsided what do you support doing?

Inequity is an easy problem to solve. If you don't like the rich having all that money, simply quit giving them yours. Problem solved.

Yes, you like most Americans will be sending your money to the top in exchange for products and services. You will not only send your money to the top next week, but probably several times next week. How do you think all that money ended up there in the first place?

As the old saying goes, charity starts at home. Another old saying is lead by example.

So quit stopping at McDonald's in the morning for breakfast. You're sending your money to the top. Get rid of that car that uses gasoline created by those multi-billionaires. What's wrong with a bicycle? Get off this internet. The people who provide you with this connection have billions of dollars partly thanks to you. And what about that computer or smart phone you use to make that connection? Yep, giving more money to those evil billionaires.

So you stop that money going to the top, and afterwards, the rest of us will follow you. How's that? Oh, and BTW, since you are getting off the internet so as not to be a hypocrite, it's been nice talking to you.
Well I appreciate the attempt to debate and minimal name calling. You missed the mark though. I am the top half percent and I am doing fine. I’m not worried about my income. I am concerned that the overall dynamic of the economy has too many losers. It’s a real problem. Makes the “riff raft” itchy to follow some authoritarian down the road of desperation.

I think we need to hold hands and fork out more for universal health care and access to equitable education. Take care of kids who aren’t taken care of and after that, you are what you produce.

The Roman Empire is returning?
Dark Ages occurred after the Roman Empire fell much like the western world is falling. We even have our own little plague. How quaint. It’s about the fall of reason and the move to fascist feudalism and tribal allegiances to man gods. Oh boy. Sound familiar?
And remember that the Roman Empire fell because the christians were in charge....they also were responsible for keeping Europe in the superstitious dark for centuries afterwards.

Actually it was initiated by Republicans. Picked up by Democrats. Wait..let me get it straight, when it's a Democrat, you're AGAINST opposition research?
Just trying to keep score. :)

Yeah we are returning to the dark ages alright because Biden stole the election and got the war machine serving the elite who want to destroy America so yeah we are indeed returning to the dark again.

Of course not. All you have is a deranged mind controlling a big angry mouth. You are low IQ and assume all your derision of me will stop me posting or prove your point. Sorry mate. You've got nothing.

I understand you are well off and wealthy. All Democrats here are. Me? I'm just about the only retired truck driver on USMB. All the other blue collar workers here are Republican.

I only insult people that insult me first. I never draw first blood. But I am truthful in everything I say and sometimes that rubs people the wrong way.

The only people in the US that participate in actual forced wealth distribution is the government. They take from the haves to give to the have nots. All other wealth distribution is done by the individuals and there is nothing wrong with that because it's optional. I love giving the my cable company money for this internet and cable every month. I love giving Verizon my money for the freedom their cell phone service brings me. I love giving my electric company money to provide me with power to make all these things work. I love buying my Molson Canadian beer from Anheuser-Bush. All these wealth companies provide me with the things in life that make me happy, so why should I care if they become wealthy over it?

After that, everything he did..he did to himself.
the Russian dossier was bought and paid for by dems ...collusion .

Actually it was initiated by Republicans. Picked up by Democrats. Wait..let me get it straight, when it's a Democrat, you're AGAINST opposition research?
Just trying to keep score. :)
Who ran with it?

Phony opposition research is fine when you just use it against your opponent. It's not fine when you march it to the FBI knowing it's fake, have them get surveillance warrants against your opponent, and later cost the taxpayers 40 million dollars to investigate lies.

A 45 million dollar investigation that was paid for in full. Not by taxpayers. Thanks Paul Manafort! :)
