I remember the wife and I just looking at each other.

I told her well, at least you might have a chance being up on Mt. Weather it they strike between 9-5......She was not amused. ;)

Yep, was very telling about what the future could look like. Now with Joe Bribem, the bitter senile old fool, the dream of the NWO just might happen.

I saw it in a theater in Germany, being stationed there at the time.

Scared the shit out of me. Not for me, as a soldier we assumed we'd be dead soon after "the balloon goes up." Scared for my family living in a major city.

Theater was very silent after it ended.

The video you showed was "the day" ....

And realistically speaking surviving the day of nuclear exchange is a miracle in itself. At least 100 million to 200 million will die in the initial exchange just in America alone. (Very rough estimates) as population centers are hit. Then there's the "walking dead" who received lethal radiation doses or need maintenance medications to live.

They will die very soon afterwards.

Our ports where millions of cargo containers are unloaded daily will of course be targeted and unusable for anything anymore as the ongoing radiation will kill anything living that gets near them.

And the end of the Movie.

the day after ending

I wished I could have found a clearer version. But the ending credits say that it would be much worse. I spent 9 years in SAC and I believe it. And I also believe that mutual destruction MAD is the only reason we have not been nuked off the face of the earth.

Back in the late 1950s early 1960s the United States had developed an advance missile defense system call the Nike Hercules program. But those damn democrats said it wouldn't be fair that we could shoot down their missiles while they couldnt shoot down ours. So those worthless democrats got rid of the program so we would have Mutual Assured Destruction. MAD, that says it all about the Democrats.

Okay, bright boy. Okay, we start deploying the NIKE system. And let's say it can stop almost all warheads. Now what? At that point, the one's systems that would be stopped would be used before Nuclear Blackmail could happen. Allowing the complete deployment of a system that negates your own side of MAD is insane. Use em or lose em.

There were Nike bases all around NOtVA....One was on the grounds of Lorton Prison.

The road gang convicts I was guarding at the time were putting up snow fence in a field there and their security team came out and fussed at me. I told them to go talk to the VDOT foreman about it and all was good.

There was another not far from the CIA HQ.

If you look at the dates of operation something was still going on in '74 at the Lorton site.....No idea what.

I was in high school. Not only did we watch it at home, a week later we had to watch it again in class and then write a report.

So while we could of stopped the Soviet Union and their missiles, we still had our own, so maybe the Soviet Union would of collapsed a lot sooner, but we will never know, will we. Oh yeah, we had a Cuban Missile Crisis just off our shore, maybe that wouldnt of happened either. But alas, shoulda, woulda, coulda. Bunch of morons who voted democrat.

You don't get it. The Soviet Union would have launched before the nikes were in place. The US would have done same had we been on end without the defensive missiles to counter.

Back then, maybe 1 in 100 of the USSR missiles might of hit a target, that was how bad their tech was. We would of been able to shoot down any possible threat that might reach over our skies. But since we didnt, the USSR stole secret information that allowed them to get better guidance systems and the rest is history. All because we didnt have the nerve to get them while they were shit.

But only if they sat their butts and allowed us to get enough missiles in place. They would not have and neither would we. Do you know the meaning of MAD?

I read once where they had 6-8 ICBMs with multiple warheads targeting the DC/Norfolk area so I figured with overshoots and me being only 60-odd miles away from DC I would be toast.

Or they would land in the Arctic circle or Atlantic Ocean, because they had shitty technology. But hey, it doesnt matter, because that time is long gone.

I watched it when it first came on television. At the time and even now, I felt that all large cities including ones near military bases should have very large, deep underground uke-proof bomb shelters for the populace.
