Anywhere there are people who gather near the street, especially busy streets, there needs to be bollards installed to protect people, it's not just idiots like this kid, it can be someone having a medical emergency or there can be an accident that sends a car into a crowd.

Life w/o parole.

They should use him to help trap those pythons, as bait.

IOW he gets away with it.

Putting bollards on every entertainment district street is not a good solution. Putting bollards or poles on the pavements of businesses may be a solution or at least improve the situation.

Just tell people not to gather where they can be hit by or targeted by crazy drivers or terrorists.

I hope the cop who missed the pit maneuver is not feeling guilt over these deaths, he is only human. This is why I don't like being in crowds near traffic (or crowds in general), and no thanks to Bourbon street.

Many jurisdictions have abandoned high speed pursuits because of the dangers they present to others. Once a vehicle is identified the police can back off and arrest the driver later.

That's a party street. It's always crowded. I doubt if you could speed on that road, lose control and kill any less than 4 people. That dude was definitely reckless driving and he had to know it. Burn his ass. RIP to the victims.

That's what they did here, I believe.

Was his license, registration and insurance up to date.

ROFLMAO. (Is that still used?). Millions like him driving CA roadways everyday. Revoked, suspended, never insured, Mexicans never licensed. 1 of 4 min. They say. So probably 1/2? Insurance is expensive for normal people because of.....

Oh yeah forgot. When/IF stopped, CA no longer allows the car impounded. It put too much hardship on illegals or street vermin "going to work". Just a citation, be on your way.

In my city last week, a 19 year old kid speeding, drunk and high plowed into 3 students and killed them. The immediate outcry was the MARKED CROSSWALK they were in was too dark and needs to have a button activated stop light. WTF?? So it's not the punk's fault, it's the city's fault for not having a traffic light at the crosswalk.

Impounding the offender's vehicle is absolutely necessary, especially those of drunk drivers. Why it isn't done is a mystery. I lost my license for a year once. I took a cab to work so I got there on time and took the bus home to save money. I rode my bike or rode with friends when I went out. In the meantime I sold my car. I saved so much money during that year that I was able to buy another car (a gold 1963 Buick Riviera) for cash when I got my license back. :)

At least murderers believe they have a good reason to kill someone, but to kill multiple people that you don't even know seems to be just as bad if not worse. In the black community killers usually kill someone who is also a criminal. However, their recreational drive-by shootings do kill innocents.

Not enough, and many officers don't break off when told to.

Their vehicles should be remotely shut down if they do not.
