What I'm not understanding is the civilian militia troops that Putin made a huge deal about.

Putin was handing out guns to civilians and expected them to defend themselves and the border....it was a huge deal at the time. Men and women given rifles.

Where are they? What happened to them. I've seen nothing about them anywhere .

3000 Russians are entrapped between a horseshoe shaped river and the Ukraine troops
The three bridges crossing the river are destroyed and the pontoon bridges are quickly knocked out

Will Putin try to save them?

Sounds like the Ukies are doing O.K. by themselves All the more reason to keep American taxpayer funding at home.

Now with the second front opened to the west....
Putin has a very serious dilemma...

He either continues to push forward regardless of the consequences....hoping he can "win" (whatever that looks like) before he has to have a general mobilization....or pull troops from the front lines.

Now if somehow Ukraine reaches far enough into Russia and begins to hit military bases or airfields or something else that Russian elites actually value (like their sons or money or nuclear weapons stores) Then Putin will find himself on a leash too short for him to breathe anymore. Until then the Russian Elite just don't care.

where did you get this info ? putin ´d " give away " 2-3 AKM on camera to the local 🇷🇺slaves but this is only for TV RT propaganda . Look, Muscovite are the Mongol- Slaves, you usually dont arm the slaves, its a very , VERY bad idea ;). It has happened once during WW1, and you know how it ended up for Romanov´s 🇷🇺empire;). Friedrich Engels said once, it´d be impossible (for the tsar) to disarm 7 millions Muscovite slaves (Muzhik)

They are a "meat wave" and considered lost. Their families? Not so much. They have been demanding them returned.

But POWs actually have zero rights. Nada....empty set....division by zero.

I know people cite the Geneva Convention but....the Swiss are Pacifists and don't do war. They don't engage in war they only provide banking services for profiteers. (Who always have extremely short lifespans)

So...POWs are property...not people anymore. A bargaining chip at best.

What Ukraine does with them is very different than what Russia does. Russian troops have been caught on numerous occasions of executing POWs when they do not have means to deal with them. Ukraine usually tries their best to ship them to a POW camp or prison...but it's not the Hilton. Thus is due to agreements made in exchange for the weapons we provided.

This does not apply to privateers or mercenary forces. They pretty much do as they wish.
