Nicola Sturgeon postponed or stopped the 2nd Scottish Referendum. Why? Everyone expected it as logical. Who controls Nicola STurgeon?

Why was it postponed?
He was the one who proposed it.
Maybe not enough support?
Just guessing.

To my understanding, Scotland has a huge generational divide. The Retiree generation is unionist and wants no independence. The working generation is robbed as usual, and voted for the Union only because of its EU membership. Now that the EU membership is gone, the 51 % of Union votes that were the last time, now is gone. So considering that Sturgeon herself called the new vote off, who controls sturgeon? This would be very interesting to speculate. Looks like it doesn't matter what the sottish people want. and if it doesn't matter what the Scottish people want, then why should it matter if the English people vote for A brexit or not?
