Two police officers in Canton, Ohio, were indicted on charges of reckless homicide in the death of Frank Tyson, a Black man who was restrained by police in April, Stark County prosecutor Kyle L. Stone said on Saturday.

Officers Camden Burch and Beau Schoenegge were booked into the Stark County Jail on Friday, according to CNN affiliate WOIO.

Stone said the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation completed its investigation of Tyson’s death and delivered the results to the prosecutor’s office, and Stone then presented the case to a grand jury last week.

“No one is above the law, and no one is so far below it that they don’t deserve its protections,” Stone said.

Reckless homicide is a third-degree felony and is punishable by up to 36 months in prison.

The arrests come more than six months after Tyson, 53, died following an April 18 police encounter during which he repeatedly pleaded, “I can’t breathe.”

Jay McDonald, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police of Ohio, the union that represents Canton Police, responded to the arrests in a comment to CNN.

“We urge people to give these officers the same rights as the people they arrest. They are innocent until proven guilty,” he said. “Even more so, we cannot second guess their actions – the United States Supreme Court requires that cases involving police don’t rely on 20/20 hindsight but rather focus on what the officers saw and how they acted based on their training and rules of engagement.”

Police body-camera footage shows the officers approaching Tyson, who shouted to call the sheriff and said “They’re trying to kill me.” Officers forced Tyson to the ground and put him in handcuffs, and an officer placed his knee on or near Tyson’s neck while he was on his stomach, according to bodycam video of the interaction.

“I can’t breathe,” Tyson said repeatedly.

“You’re fine,” one officer responded. “Shut the f**k up.”

Five minutes after he stopped speaking, the officers realized he was unresponsive, the video shows. The officers administered several doses of Narcan, the medication to reverse opioid overdoses, and administered CPR, the video shows. Tyson was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

Reality is there were two officers. They had no need to keep him pinned by the neck with a knee for upwards of five minutes is what the article states based on the video from body cams they should just have picked him up and threw his ass in the car as soon as he was cuffed!

I've always thought and said this very thing.

Years ago, when the COPS show first became popular, I watched weekly.

And I was constantly screaming "why".

The cops have every right to use necessary force right up until the suspect is in cuffs and under control.

Any force after they are in cuffs is unnecessary and excessive.

But, it's not a race-based thing, IMO, it happens with all races.

Anyone who has watched COPS or done any research at all, knows this.

I watch a lot of YouTube video's showing the police chasing criminals and taking them down to the ground and handcuffing them.
Everyone of the black's will start repeating, "I can't breathe, I can't breathe". lol
.
I am watching one ow.

I saw one the other night where a white guy was uncooperative and ended up in jail.

I even saw a VC who was also uncooperative with the police.

Whenever I talk with a LEO I always hand them my ID and say...I know you guys like to know who you are dealing with. I always tell them...I will wavier 4th amendment right if it will speed things up.

It is funny in a way how many negros get a attiude and resist with violence.

Maybe they are hope'n to get killed and thier family will be able to hit the getto lottery.

I keep hearing it happens in all races, but it seems that it only happens to black folks.

The system works doesn't it? Now what the hell do we do about illegal aliens who are raping and murdering American citizens? Offer them sanctuary?

Cops are dangerous and poorly trained.

He overdosed? I dont care about that. Putting a knee on someones back wont kill them, but having a drug related heart attack will.

You ever had a knee in your back or on your neck for over 2 or 3 mins?
No, but ive seen plenty of videos of it. I literally saw an arrest video yesterday with the Chauvin knee technique being used. The guy even said "i cant breathe", but he survived just fine because, he wasnt on drugs.

So if one person gets shot in the face and dies and then the next one shot in the face doesn't die, does that mean getting shot in the face won't kill you?

They literally train cops to use the shoulder on the back technique. Chauvin is the only person in history to be charged for using it.

That's only because officers could use the lie of you were resisting arrest, now it's I was in fear of my life. Body cam video and cellphone has changed some of that.
