ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Two Albuquerque police officers were charged with murder Monday in the shooting death of a knife-wielding homeless man that led to sometimes violent protests and a federal investigation into the city's police force.

The decision to bring murder charges occurred at a time when police tactics are under intense scrutiny nationwide, fueled by the fatal shooting of an unarmed 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri, and the chokehold death of another unarmed man in New York City. Grand juries declined to charge officers in those cases, leading to large protests.

Killers need to have a law similar to the one bite rule for dogs. The police cannot use force until the knife wielding killer has stabbed the officer at least once.

and this is where cops start saying **** it, because no cop is going to risk a murder charge to enforce the law.

I think we need more information.

It's doubtful that the simple story is a crazy knife-wielding man ran at police with it, they shot him, and they're charged with murder for defending themselves. Doubtful.

If that really is all there is to it, then some of these anti-police people are reprobate indeed.
