I picked-up this 1976 6" barreled S&W Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman yesterday. No box but in decent shape.....I have $700.00 in it, not a smoking deal but a fair deal....It came with a rather worn field holster.
I did find that the target stocks were added later as they were dated 1987 and Model 28 production ended in '86.....No worries though as I had a set of stocks for a Model-28.
S&W finished Model 28 stocks in matte to closer match the finish on the Model 28.....The shiny ones were for the polished Model 27, 29, and the like.
I put the shiny stocks on eBay so that will defray the cost by $170.00 or so when they sell.
Sadly I missed-out on a very rare 3.50" barreled Model 27 round butt that sold a day before I stopped in.
