That was the message sent out as the Golden Spike was driven to unite the coasts with a railroad line. History was changed forever.

A couple of years after the Civil War when the country was in turmoil and still fighting Indians and they managed to fund and finish the intercontinental railway. Today we can't even get a hundred miles of wall built without political squabbling about the President's freaking tax returns. We sure have turned wimpy in the last 150 years.
