The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) informed NSSF that on Thursday, January 1, 2026, alone, an unprecedented surge in e-Forms submissions were being processed. That total was approximately 150,000 e-Forms. For an eye-popping comparison, last year, ahead of the $200-to-$0 tax change, typical daily volume on e-Forms for suppressors, SBRs and SBSs would hover closer to around 2,500.

150,000 applications on Jan 1st 2026 -- outstanding!
The Big Beautiful Bill, working as intended.
The democratization of firearms suppressors has begun!
WINNING!

Until this absurd registration requirement is gone, I’m not begging permission to do what should be common, nor appearing on any more of their paperwork.
I don't blame you.
I am interested to see what this deregulation does to the suppressor market, in terms of offerings and prices.

The political climate changes to much to not be concerned. Being on some list that has ATF kicking in your door the next time the gun grabbers take control.

I would be sure to vet these applicants thoroughly. This strikes me as a psyops.

I don't put it past the emotionally stunted left to want to put gatekeepers in place. Look at the lady who got herself killed in Minneapolis. It turns out she was a trained anit-ice operative, which completely destroys the the 'she paniced' narrative.

So, they are experts at infiltrating gatekeepers.

That sounds good but wouldn't you be setting yourself up to the BATF to enter your home at any time to inspect all your firearms? Save $200 but what is the real cost?

I've never heard tell of the ATF raiding a "stamp collector" unless it was for some other offence, but yeah it's possible I guess.

I suspect they are just doing a instant check like they should have been doing all along.
Little known fact: The ATF runs the same background check as your FFL does when you buy a formal gun.
I waited near 10 months for my first can when the Halfrican was in charge.
Imagine that.

Is that your opinion or did they change that rule where you don't have to sign the document allowing Feds in your home to 'inspect' your firearms?
Those inspections are for FFL holders who deal in NFA items, not private individuals wth NFA items.

All the people I know with full autos, suppressors, short barrel rifles, or destructive devises had to sign forms giving BATF the authority to entry into their home to inspect firearms.
