I guess you forgot all about Bush. Each side has held the White House for 12 years. But both of the Democratic Administrations spent their entire time cleaning up and restoring the economy after the Republican President crashed the economy, throwing millions out of work.
The American standard of living declined because Republicans crashed the economy twice in those 20 years, enriching the wealthy, and impoverishing working and middle class Americans, right before the American people voted them out of office. Democratics were sworn into smoking economic ruin, and the worst pandemic in over 100 years.
Republicans have been an economic disaster since 1981. Reagan was the only President with decent job creation. From Bush 41 (2.6 million), Bush 43 (.5 million) and Trump (-2.6 million) added a net total of 500,000 jobs the 16 years they held office. Compare that to Clinton (22.8 million), Obama (11.5 million) and Biden (15 million so far), 44.3 million.
Pick any economic measure you can name, and the Republicans are massive failures. Worker wages - 1 increase to the minimum wage since Reagan was elected. Stock Market - way up under Democrats, crashing under Republicans. Balance of trade - trade deficits decline under Democrats and rise under Republicans, Weath and page gap - gets wider every time taxes are cut.
Republicans have created few jobs, ballooned the national debt with unfunded tax cuts and prolifigate spending, and destroyed the American dream. Why Americans trust them more with the economy is beyond me.
