ZEROcare: Step one to Single Payer Socialism

One way to get the doctors to work within a single payer system is to lower taxes for doctors. Maybe down to 10%? is my suggestion. Or maybe we could Give them special benefits just for doctors, etc. This way we have a system that's far less costly for the little guy, but the doctor benefits and wants to practice. Makes it worth their time.

What do you think?

...but, why pay doctors when you can get nurse practitioners, midwives, and PAs to do the work for less than half the cost? I mean that's what the euro setup is. They don't care if the practitioners are highly qualified or not. It isn't about quality it's about quantity.

We all have to be willing to give up good care to ensure that everyone gets the same care.

Sad thing is that with all liberal policy - it's the middle class who suffers. We end up getting the same care as the poor - we just have to pay more money for it. The rich will continue to pay for the best care in the world as $1200 per month to them has the same financial impact as $600 (soon to be $800) per month.
It's called triage and it's used in every ER in the US. Most doctor's offices in the US have PA's who practice medicine under the direction of physicians and surgeons. They are formally trained to examine patients, diagnose injuries and illnesses, and provide treatment. They are a US invention and found only in few countires in Europe.

It doesn't appear that you know the definition of the word triage.

That 7% represents dollars awarded as a result of torts --- what this misses is the billions upon billions that hospitals/doctors spend practicing defensive medicine. . .

Today, every test under the sun is ordered, mostly without cause.

You make it sound as though they're not charging someone else for the cost (plus whatever the margin happens to be on that particular test or service).

Tell me, on net are these useless tests bringing in more dollars to your facility or do they result in operating losses?

Triage is the process of determining the priority of patients' treatments based on the severity of their condition. It is widely used in the US and around the world.

There are millions of people that use the E.R. to relieve symptoms that occurred after hours, weekends, when Physician's offices are closed. Most of their problems could of been treated if we had more 24 hour clinics available for the public.

Hospitals do not want that since it would drastically reduce their patient load each day. That is why they are attempting to buy up all private practices to gain more power in negotiating with the insurance and the government.

It will be horrible for us if they accomplish it in higher costs for any medical care we need.

What you're talking about are urgent care clinics. They exist in most cities today and are the closest thing to a family doctor that you will find after hours. A patient will get a general diagnosis, medical advice, and a prescription or a referral to an ER.

An ER is expensive, typically $1,000 to $2,000 if you don't have any insurance coverage. On the positive side, there is no place that you will find better immediate care. They have all the diagnostic equipment, specialists, and treatments you might need plus they have priority over patients in the hospital. However, the purpose of the ER is to treat an acute condition or an injury, to stabilize you and get you either in the hospital or discharged to the care of your family doctor.

ER's are often misused by people who don't have insurance or people who want the fastest possible medical service. Often in an ER, you will get an accurate diagnosis and treatment that would take weeks to get from your doctor.

Most hospitals lose money on their ER but make it up in the hospital.

What's the best way forward to best
-Insure the population
-Lower the insurance cost to the customer
-Create the highest level of innovation

etc

This is what we want.
That is not forward.

When will people come to realize that growing and strengthening government is a step backwards? Hell, its a hundred steps backward.

We've fought a half-dozen wars to keep government from becoming tyrannical, not only here but abroad.

Now people are willingly walking back into the servitude and manacles.

When will you realize that your idea of pure capitalism failed just as badly as socialism? We can't compete against China, India and the rest of the first world with only big business with limitations. Unless of course you want to go back to the early 20th century with the Rockefellers, etc. Maybe we could allow Spacex, Google, Apple, to totally do as they do best....:eusa_hand:

Still the government does do great things as they help fund some of the larger programs that push innovation. Really so the infrastructure.

How exactly do you measure failure? This country has the largest economy in the world. The poorest among us are orders of magnitude richer than the poorest in third world countries.

We out produce and innovate any other nation. We have a standard of living far and above any other nation.

This has NOT been a function of government, nor a product of government. It is a product of capitalism. If we were not so self indulgent, we would out live every other nation as well. Our medicine is the best. Our technology is superior. Our leisure time exceeds everyone except the lazy ass phrench. Our education system is far and away, head and shoulders above any other nation.

None of that is attributed to Government, socialism, communism, nor any other ism OTHER than capitalism.

So you tell Me. How do you measure failure? Because in advancement of this society and the human race, capitalism has no rival. None at all.

Obamacare doesn't even come close to being viewed as a single payer system. All the major health insurance companies that get chosen for each state will be adding healthy young adults to their pool and its business as usual.

Now if the government created their own insurance company and offered low rates available to anyone who wanted cheaper insurance, then it would appear that our government wanted a single payer system.

Right now the State and Federal government is only paying on average $3500 per person on Medicaid annually that covers all medical services that they need. What does the media say we are paying on average for healthcare, something like $8,000 per person.

You wonder why the government can get away with spending so much less then we do.
