Zap! Unlucky wind turbine hit by storm, finished off by lightning

Don Henderson drives around taking photographs of Iowa, but this was a first, what he called "a very unlucky windmill" smoldering in the distance on Sunday.

He said a wind turbine four miles south of Zearing off U.S. Highway 65 was damaged by the tornadoes that ripped through Iowa earlier this summer, leaving one blade dangling. Then, lightning struck it during the storms this weekend.

He was there Sunday to capture the images of the smoking turbine, and thousands of people reacted to his images on Facebook.

After the turbine burned, he said, a second blade fell off later.

Careful they always have a hissy fit when I bring that up, for some reason they think 800 year old plus , antique technology is "New technology"

.

And so, what does the destruction of one mill in a storm prove? What about the rest of the mills that survived the storms? What about the mills in the Dakotas and Texas that regularly survive storms? And the tower is still there, so it is just a matter of replacing the turbine and blades. Probably that will be done in less than a week.

Flying blades not a problem at all...

Lung cancer and heavy metal pollution from coal fired plants are not a problem at all. Destruction of watersheds by mountain top removal mining, or the flooding of rivers by flyash from coal fired plants is not a problem at all, right? Which most likely to affect the most people. And which is now more expensive to the consumer for the price of electricity by the kw/hr?

You can find a problem with anything.
