And the idiot left wants more Socialism.

The progressive taxes are bad enough in this country but the sleazy creep of regressive taxes crushes the working class.

Every stupid libtardo should have these numbers shoved in their face.

It's not Socialism, it's "Democratic Socialism"

In 2018, according to Table R-1, American consumer units spent an average of $9,031.93 on federal income taxes; $5,023.73 on Social Security taxes (which the table calls "deductions"); $2,284.62 on state and local income taxes; $2,199.80 on property taxes; and $77.85 on what BLS calls "other taxes."

The combined payments the average American consumer unit made for these five categories of taxes was $18,617.93.

At the same time the average American consumer unit was paying these taxes, it was spending $7,923.19 on food; $4,968.44 on health care; and $1,866.48 on "apparel and services."

These combined expenditures equaled $14,758.11.

Taxes are the price we pay to live in a civilized society

Frankly I’m not sure how relevant the fact that we spend more money on taxes than food, clothing and healthcare is. Those taxes pay for roads, military, schools, and a whole bunch of free money for folks unable or unwilling to work. I’m not overly concerned with the amount I pay in taxes given the current tax rate. What is most bothersome is how much of our federal budget is spent on entitlements (transfer of money from a worker to a non-worker), and the fact that the national debt continues to grow in spite of all these taxes.

rightwinger BY CONSENT, not by tyranny or we're back to the days of colonialism.
You wouldn't want to pay taxes into govt that go into right to life programs or Christian only schools.
Many friends I know have been protesting their taxes paying for the death penalty which they don't BELIEVE in or consent to,
similar to right to life believers who are not required to pay taxes into abortion against their beliefs either.

This would be a better country and govt if we had better checks against govt overspending money
on things that taxpayers didn't authorize, from bad drug war laws that cost trillions and don't produce better results,
to handing tax money to CORPORATE INSURANCE that could be paying for longterm health care program development and services.

Do you really want your money going into corporate bailouts like MAXXAM costing
taxpayers over 1.6 billion to cover their failed bonds used in a hostile takeover
of Pacific Lumber back in the 80-90's (which caused the corporate destruction of
both Headwaters Redwood Forest and Pacific Lumber union jobs and pension that all got raided for corporate
profit at taxpayer expense???)

rightwinger if left and right parties fail to unite and police where our taxes go,
the corporate interests and media will continue to pay politics and profit at our expense.
If we unite we can better stop the waste and abuse of public money on t hings we protest but aren't being heard.
because we're too busy fighting the other party instead of demanding all parties be held accountable to pay us back for abuses
we NEVER authorized. the only thing missing is we aren't fighting and standing on a united front, as we the people, to
hold our own govt accountable. so we are getting railroaded by corporate interests running all over us by dividing one side
against the other like rigging a match and deciding each win/loss for private profit at taxpayer expense.

is this what you want? no accountability to the public to how our taxes are spent? really?

Even though the 3/5 representation used to count slaves as part of the population
was never meant to mean each person is only 3/5 human,
this same fraction can be used to model the political slavery going on today:

if you consider 40% tax rate to mean you only keep 60% of your income/labor for yourself,
and 40% goes to govt as the master who get your money and labor for free automatically,
then 40% = 2/5 slave to govt
and 60% = 3/5 free to earn your own money by your own income

rightwinger this is where Liberals see tax money as belonging to the state not
coming from people's own work, even corporate/companies that are run by people doing WORK to earn that revenue.

Liberals see this is "automatically belonging to them"

But Conservatives see where the money comes from first, from PEOPLE working
and/or running companies they are legally and financially on the hook for in order to generate money
BEFORE taxes are taken out of that to put into public govt.

So that's why Conservatives see it as Govt TAKING TOO MUCH AND NOT WATCHING WHERE IT GOES.

I compared it to a car that is running up more expensive repairs to "keep it running" than the car is worth.
Liberals want to keep paying whatever it takes to keep the car running.
Conservatives want to CUT THE COSTS and stop paying for it to make sure it is FIXED FIRST.
If you keep paying as is, there is no motivation to fix what is wrong with the car that is COSTING SO MUCH. You will keep paying for the car you are UPSIDE DOWN on, to the point you are losing money (not paying for the car, but the maintenance and interest on debt and not even fixing the problems costing you more in the first place).

It's not that Conservatives don't want to pay for the car, it's they want th eproblems FIXED to stop the costs reeling out of control.
The liberals think this is GREED not to want to pay those costs.
But if that was you paying for a broken car, wouldn't you rather pay for a better car that runs better without costing over the value?

Who's taxes yours?

I am not paying more for a snickers bar or for so some poor broke ass person can be millionaire while in office like Maxine or Nancy.
