When in England, at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked
by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an
example of empire building' by George Bush.

He answered by saying, 'Over the years, the United States has sent many
of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom
beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in
return is enough to bury those that did not return.'

There was a conference in France where a number of international
engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break
one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, 'Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intended to do, bomb them?'

A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: 'Our carriers have three
hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear
powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities;
they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three
meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in
transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have
eleven such ships; how many does France have?'

A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included NAVY
Admirals from the U.S., England, Canada, Australia and France. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of
Officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone
was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French
admiral suddenly complained that, 'whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English.' He then asked, 'Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?'

Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied 'Maybe it's because the
Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have
to speak German.'

AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE...
Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane.
At French Customs, he took a few moments to locate his passport in his
carry on.

'You have been to France before, monsieur?' the customs officer asked sarcastically.

Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously .
'Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.'
The American said, 'The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it.'
'Impossible. Americans always have to show your passports on arrival in
France!'

The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained. 'Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in '44 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.'

You could have heard a pin drop.

Was Rumsfeld with him? I don't think so, because if they catch him in Europe or the Hague, he'll be arrested and charged with war crimes.

this looks like one of those chain emails that go around and then snopes will investigate it and find most if not all these incidents never took place.

Do you have links to provide that confirm these statements actually took place?

looks like hyper-patriotic nonsense to me, trying to show how "great" America is.

Can you say...

Junkmail!

This stupid claptrap has been doing the rounds since I first starting posting seven years ago. Always jingoistic, "patriotic", right-wing whack jobs post it. Surprised he hasn't reprised the poem about the dream a guy has about the revolutionary soldier...blah. blah blah

don't know if all that happened. Hope it did

Doesn't change the fact that 100% of it is all true.

For Balance...

Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.

Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.

GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.

"I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way."

"Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution."

"Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!"

And unlike Junkmail, I'll even provide a link.

lol, god why do you hate this country?

Honestly, just fucking leave if you hate it so much.

Regardless if it happened or it's just a chain e-mail going around.

Everyone of those statements is true.

Aircraft Carriers do all these things

France would be speaking another language if England, Canada, Aus, and the USA didn't liberate them

I can very well see a old WW2 vetran saying that to some prick custom agent.

Like I said, it very well might be a chain e-mail, but everything on it is true.

Even if the story is false, it's still true??? :cuckoo:

Jesus Christ man, do you even bother to read what you say?

/facepalm

dude, regardless if thos events took place. Everything about it is 100% accurate

That's all I am saying

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story...
