archangel said:is a 'girl'...at least I think that is what she said earlier...
ProudDem said:I'm talking about struggling financially. I really don't care to prove you wrong. It's okay if you don't agree with me.

archangel said:for a fact he never struggled financially...humm are you his auditor?
ProudDem said:Where am I contradicting myself? I said that I think Roberts should be confirmed. If I didn't think he should be confirmed, that would indicate I didn't find him competent.
LOL I'm a woman.
ProudDem said:I might be.
I do not know for a fact that he struggled financially. Archangel, I think it's reasonable to assume that a man who went to private schools all of his school years, then went on to Harvard (who no longer gives scholarships) and then Harvard Law School isn't doing too badly financially. The man is a millionaire now.
What is a concern of mine may not be a concern of yours, and that's okay.
archangel said:John is fifty years old that means he went to "Harvard" some thirty years ago..
and they did offer full scholarships back in the day!
rtwngAvngr said:Prouddem, now that we all understand this was merely a concern of yours rolleyes: ) , please tell us how you think this lopsidedness in life experience will manifest itself in bad decisions. What sorts of cases do you think will be affected?
ProudDem said:You are right! I made a boo boo. My father went there, and he was able to go there because of a scholarship. Oops! How could I forget that? I know that at the present time, they don't give them out.
Also, just some tidbit information, my father then worked in the admissions office at Harvard Law School and was there when Roberts was admitted.
ProudDem said:Honestly, Avenger, I have no idea how it will manifest itself. Time will tell.
Love the rolling eyes face.
archangel said:did he receive a scholarship...or did mom and dad suffer hardship to pay his way?
ProudDem said:I mentioned in the above paragraph that he received a scholarship. There was no way that his parents could have paid for it. My father was raised in Wyoming with not a lot of money (his mother had a debilitating disease). He came a long way, and I admire him tremendously.
Gem said:Dem,
So is your argument really with Roberts? Or with the system at large? I would argue that the vast majority of people in high political offices are people who have money.
Kerry isn't exactly a posterboy for struggling and hardship...and for all the talk about Edwards's hard childhood...the mans father was the manager of the plant he always talked about during elections...and his idea of an "underprivledged upbringing" was laughable considering how many Americans live lives truly effected by poverty. Yet I'm willing to bet that you voted for them...instead of Bush, who had a more "diverse" cabinet with a variety of people, many of whom have had "poor" beginnings.
archangel said:I was referring to John Roberts though!
ProudDem said:Ha ha ha. Oops again. I am not sure if he received a scholarship.
