Coal is set to regain its spot as the nation’s biggest export earner amid higher prices and surging demand from Asia, sparking fresh calls from the Turnbull government for Labor to end its “war on coal”.

The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science figures show total coal exports are forecast to reach $58.1 billion in 2018-19, overtaking iron ore ($57.7bn) for the first time in almost a decade.

Coal, a dying industry, just became Australia’s number one export (again) « JoNova

LOL Even in Australia, they are converting to renewables, especially solar. They are creating a virtual power station that will greatly reduce the cost of electricity to those in the program, at no cost to them. And supply 250 MW of energy to the grid.

Tesla deploys first 100 Powerwalls with solar for new virtual power plant in Australia – already having an impact

The deployment has already started and 100 homes have received a Powerwall and a 5 kW solar array.

It is already having a great impact. Local news station 9 Adelaide featured a public housing tenant in the city who was spending over $500 every quarter for electricity and she has now seen her bill reduced to $175 since the installation of the system.
