Wilson did keep us out of WW1

Canada entered the war when the British declared war on Germany on August 4, 1914. The British declaration of war automatically brought Canada into the war because of their status as a British dominion but it was up to Canada to determine their level of involvement. They went all in when Canada declared war on Germany. In 1939 they were no longer a part of the British empire and they went to war when Germany invaded Poland September 1, 1939. We sat on the sidelines until Japan`s attack on Pearl Harbor. It`s laughable that some people think Canada doesn`t need a large military because we protect them when history shows the opposite.
we should conquer canada so we could hav a place to move when global warming hits a thousand years from now

It's hard to believe a seemly independent country like Canada was forced into supplying cannon fodder for a British military adventure they called WW1. Is Canada still subject to the whims of the quirky British Royals 3,000 miles away? What about the loyal French? Actually it seems that Canada really doesn't need a large military because it has good old Uncle Sam around.

Actually, Uncle Sam sat on the sidelines during both world wars while Canada protected us. BTW home school, The British didn`t start WW1.

The Canadians, Ozzies, Kiwis, and Afrikaners are the forces that broke through the Hindenburg Line in 1918 and forced the German decision to surrender, along with the Serbs taking Bulgaria in their 500 mile drive against Austria-Hungary. Wilson of course screwed the victory up and the Allies never occupied Germany, so the later German right wing propagandists got to pretend they didn't lose the war.

I don`t think Wilson was the one calling the shots at the end of the war. Coming in for mop up duty when the war was nearly over caused some resentment among the allies who did the overwhelming majority of the dying.

Wilson kept attempting a unilateral peace agree ment with the Germans, shutting the Allies out; he did this in secret, about three times, and eh kept getting caught at it, and it would have been American troops doing most of the occupation and controlling the peace agreements, hence the French and British decisions to accept the Germans' surrender and not chase the German Army's rout into Germany in 1919. So yes, Wilson had a lot of clout, and would have had more if the war extended into 1919. The Allies didn't trust Wilson, hence the result of WW I: Part II, under Hitler's regime.

The FRench and Brit's occupation of the Rhineland and taking their long stalled reparations by force should have been a clue to the average German they lost, but it obviously wasn't.

Wilson did not keep us out of WW I. Even worse, he had us enter the war at the worst possible time, just when there was a chance for a reasonable negotiated peace. Moreover, thousands of our troops were killed and wounded in pointless, badly conceived operations. Several hundred were killed and wounded even after Pershing knew that Germany had agreed to a ceasefire. Read Thomas Fleming's book The Illusion of Victory.
