Will The Economy Be Barack Obama's "Vietnam?"...

One thing is for sure. By next year they are going to claim that the economy is in full recovery and everything is just rosy whether it's true or not. Gee go figure? That's also election time no? :(

I know you're hoping it's not, but you should try to make that a little less obvious.

Like a broken record I ask the same question. Republicans have been freezing or cutting funding for education and jobs training for over 10 years.

Less than 6% of scientists are Republicans.

YET

Republicans scream for jobs. WTF!

Jobs doing what????

What are you qualified for????

You want to replace science with mysticism. We know what you think of the educated.

If you are not part of the solution, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!

So I ask once again, without education or even a GED, WHAT ARE YOU QUALIFED FOR????

Don't say factory job. Republicans have been sending those overseas for years. They are under the delusion it's capitalism.

So I ask again, "WHAT ARE YOU QUALIFED FOR????" And please don't tell me you have one of those Bible Study degrees.

The social value conservatives are becoming smaller in percentage of the population every year. BHO's election was a turning point. We will not be going back. The overwhelming rejection of Sarah when she quit her job is a great reflector of just how unpopular these folks and their doctrines have become.

Some form of health care reform will pass in the next six weeks, the economy will turn around by January or February, and CrusaderFrank and divecon and Elvis will all become bornagaindemocrats.

The larger question will be "Will the economy become the republicans Viet Nam?"

Hmm... Lets see... Anti-Business Federal policy which punishes productivity and investment could somehow result in something except productivity and investment receding to defend itself from punishing Federal Policy...?

I suppose it COULD happen... I just don't see why it would...

Perhaps you'll be good enough to explain how increasing liability to the markets, usurping private property rights, capping compensation and so on... MIGHT somehow result in something other than what nature requires it will result in.

The majority of economists are predicting an end to the recession sometime in the fall.

ROFLMNAO... Well from their lips to God's ears... but sadly, there is absolutely NOTHING on the economic horizon to support that drivel...

And whats worse is that THE IDIOTS HAVE NOT EVEN BEGUN TO ESTABLISH ANY POLICY TO PAY FOR ANY OF THE TRILLIONS THAT THEY'VE SPENT IN THE LAST 7 MONTHS AND THEY'RE PRESENTLY TRYING TO DOUBLE DOWN ON THAT!

The Recession isn't anywhere NEAR OVER; and either by Christmas or just after Christmas, there will be another JOBS bloodbath... where those small and mid-size companies that are barely hanging on... which are crushing their lines of credit to stay in business at the moment, finally give up the ghost to the Socialist reality... which is that a fairly significant failure, brought on by Socialist Policy failures; exacerbated by more failed socialist policy turn a thriving economy into a global DEPRESSION!

Sticking your head in the sand is not an answer. Even the Wall Street Journal admitted last week the economy is turning around. There is still much work to do, but the panic is over.

So, what do we make of the republicans who predicted catastrophy? How the economy would collapse because of Obama's borrowing?

The fear mongering and predictions of doom ain't happening.

All those who voted NO...will pay a political price

The social value conservatives are becoming smaller in percentage of the population every year.

Absolutely BASELESS... Cite the evidence on which this conclusion rests or concede by default that it is NONSENSE, through your failure to show sound evidence.

BHO's election was a turning point. We will not be going back.

Well that's fairly desperate conjecture... but, as worhtless as it is, you're entitled to it...

The overwhelming rejection of Sarah when she quit her job is a great reflector of just how unpopular these folks and their doctrines have become.

Sadly, there's nothing even POTENTIAL CORRELATION between Palin's resigning from the Alaska Governors office and Palin's unpopularity... and certainly no correlating between her resignation and the popularity of Americans...

Some form of health care reform will pass in the next six weeks, the economy will turn around by January or February ...

More desperate conjecture... As much as I'd love to see it; there is nothing to indicate the the economy is turning around.

But feel free to site the stats that you feel represents such... Retail sales are in the shitter, and except for a slight tick in wholesale orders, THAT segment is likewise in the crapper... and there's simply no demand for anything. Housing is barely holding its own... Construction orders are still falling... There is such a glut of real-estate in both residential and commercial, that it will take a decade to sell off the new and empty units, the VALUE of which CONTINUES TO FALL...

And AGAIN EINSTIEN... The BOY King has printed unprecedented amounts of CASH... in the last 7 months; and THEY HAVEN'T EVEN BEGUN TO DISCUSS HOW THEY'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT! The INSTANT that the economy does seem to be catching sail... You idiots will run in and increase taxes and regulatory fees and CRUSH it AGAIN!

This hasn't even BEGUN sis... If you want to get an idea of what to expect, go do some reading on the economy of the 1930s. As the great American poet Yogi Berra once said: "It's deja vu, all over again..."

Not really

Where the money is going:

Follow the money: Bailout tracker - CNNMoney.com

The only ones that are obvious "give aways" are education grants.

Money to banks and other institutions are paid back with interest. I read somewhere the paid back interest is already over 15 billion.

Money to "infrastructure" you know, bridges, dams, highways, and the like will save money from injury and accidents not to mention the jobs and the taxes from those jobs and the boost to the economy.

Money for education. That is a long term investment. Republicans have froze or cut funding for job training and education for more than the last ten years. At the same time, they have relaxed regulations so companies could move overseas where they don't have to pay such high health insurance costs. Only, if people here don't have jobs, and people there don't have good wages, then where do they sell their products? Many companies are finding this a problem.

Republicans are trying to push the idea that this is just a massive "give a way". Why? Because they want the president to "fail".

What a load of absolute nonsense... You've established this entire screed on a fabulously fallacious premise... This straw-dog is hilarious... WHO are the Republicans screaming for work? But it is hilarious that a leftist is complaining about people seeking work... and quite telling.

I'm a Republican and I make my living looking for work... when I find it; I stroke a contract, execute that contract, bill on the terms of that executed contract and start all over again... leaving my to wonder what might be the point to this inane screed.

At this point, I'm left to conclude that you are potentially the person to replace Chris as the most ludicrous idiot on this board...

Congrats and best of luck...

The economy is improving.

The Economy will always work around what ever impediments are in it's way....

What stimulus is that? Cite a specific bill, which you can correlate to a Specific positive economic effect... Your failure to do so, will constitute a default concession on your part that you've no actual facts to rest this baseless bilge.

Name one job which was created by the Stimulus... Name one job which was saved and the correlating SPECIFIC POLICY which saved it... AGAIN: Your failure to do so will be your default concession that you're full of shit...

The 8 years of the Bush administration averaged 5% unemployment... even the most ridiculously optimistic employment data recognizes that the Present US Unemployment rate is double that.

Yeah, if the goal is to destroy the competitiveness of whatever industry the Union is being implemented, Unions work GREAT! So far unions have managed to drive the US Textile, Steel and soon, the US Automobile industry into extinction...

our big three auto companies are prime examples of how unions make the world run green.

Well THAT'S TRUE... Except there are only TWO US automakers, as Chrysler is no longer owned by Americans... But let's not quibble... Your point, is that the Unions who have infected the US Automobile manufacturers are 90% responsible for those comapanies being completely incapable of competing with companies who use non-union, free-market labor; with the other 10% being the fault of the management of those companies allowing their companies to become infected by such.

But, but..butt. Yes, butt. What i am hearing is that the last eight years spurred the unemployment rate to 10% (somewhere around 13% but the cost outweighs the benefits of finding the exact number). Biden came out saying that the stimulus is working and is saving jobs. I can't find the exactly speech, i saw it somewhere on television but i'm preoccupied on being a delusional partisan hack who is spouting BSs. I'm what the media created. Uninformed...must believe in what they preach.

But... Biden's an imbecile...

I know many now believe Afghanistan will be Barack Obama's Vietnam but i actually think that the Economy will be Obama's Vietnam in the end. His policies seem to be sinking himself deeper & deeper into a Depression-like Quagmire. I know by next year just in time for the elections, they are going to be telling us that the economy is in full recovery and everything is just rosy but the reality will be something much different. His policies seem to be very dangerous and short-sighted. Unfortunately our children will be the ones who will suffer the most and pay the price in the future. In the end Barack Obama's Economic Quagmire will be far more damaging to our nation than any Wars we are currently engaged in. Lets hope i'm wrong but i don't think i will be.

Of course not.

Who is going to call him out on it? The media?

Stick your head back in the sand Nancy...

SEPTEMBER 2, 2009 U.S. Economy Gets Lift From Stimulus Article Comments (105) more in By DEBORAH SOLOMON
WASHINGTON -- Government efforts to funnel hundreds of billions of dollars into the U.S. economy appear to be helping the U.S. climb out of the worst recession in decades. But there's little agreement about which programs are having the biggest impact. Some economists argue that efforts such as the Federal Reserve's aggressive buying of Treasury debt and mortgage-backed securities, as well as government efforts to shore up banks, are providing a bigger boost than the administration's $787 billion stimulus package.

The U.S. economy is beginning to show signs of improvement, with many economists asserting the worst is past and data pointing to stronger-than-expected growth. On Tuesday, data showed manufacturing grew in August for the first time in more than a year. "There's a method to the madness. We're getting out of this," said Brian Bethune, chief U.S. financial economist at IHS Global Insight.

Much of the stimulus spending is just beginning to trickle through the economy, with spending expected to peak sometime later this year or in early 2010. The government has funneled about $60 billion of the $288 billion in promised tax cuts to U.S. households, while about $84 billion of the $499 billion in spending has been paid. About $200 billion has been promised to certain projects, such as infrastructure and energy projects.
Economists say the money out the door -- combined with the expectation of additional funds flowing soon -- is fueling growth above where it would have been without any government action.

Many forecasters say stimulus spending is adding two to three percentage points to economic growth in the second and third quarters, when measured at an annual rate. The impact in the second quarter, calculated by analyzing how the extra funds flowing into the economy boost consumption, investment and spending, helped slow the rate of decline and will lay the groundwork for positive growth in the third quarter -- something that seemed almost implausible just a few months ago. Some economists say the 1% contraction in the second quarter would have been far worse, possibly as much as 3.2%, if not for the stimulus.

For the third quarter, economists at Goldman Sachs & Co. predict the U.S. economy will grow by 3.3%. "Without that extra stimulus, we would be somewhere around zero," said Jan Hatzius, chief U.S. economist for Goldman.

You make your living looking for work? That suggest that your job is something for the private sector. Fixing a roof. Pouring cement. Construction of some type. Carpentry, plumbing. Those are the jobs hardest hit by the recession. The jobs that are most helped by the stimulus package. The companies most unable to pay for high insurance costs.

Of course, you could be working as a technical writer or graphic artist, but somehow, from your writing, that doesn't "feel" right.

Possibly retired and on Medicare?

U.S. Leading Economic Index Rose 0.6 Percent in July (Update1)

By Bob Willis

Aug. 20 (Bloomberg) -- The index of U.S. leading economic indicators rose in July for a fourth consecutive month, another sign the worst recession in seven decades is almost over.
The Conference Board’s gauge of the economic outlook for the next three to six months rose 0.6 percent, less than forecast, after a revised 0.8 percent increase in June, the New York-based group said today. The coincident indicators index, a gauge of current economic activity, was unchanged after falling every month since October.

Fewer job losses, rising stock prices and a renewal of factory output all indicate government efforts to stem the financial crisis and revive the economy are paying off. Even so, a jobless rate forecast to reach 10 percent and falling home values are a reminder that any expansion will be muted as consumers rein in spending and boost savings.

“Overall this is pretty good news, suggesting the recession is coming to an end,” said Zach Pandl, an economist at Nomura Securities International Inc. in New York. “The stabilization in the coincident index is a strong signal that activity is now leveling out.”

The main index was forecast to rise 0.7 percent, according to the median of 52 economists in a Bloomberg News survey, after an originally reported increase of 0.7 percent in June. Estimates ranged from gains of 0.1 percent to 1 percent.

no....when the election comes next year...just look at the debt, this will be the deal breaker, or maker for the democrats.

But...But....it wasn't Obama who fixed the economy
It was our NO votes that made the economy turn around
