Why the Left Doesn't Care about $9.7 Trillion Debt

True, true.

But one might consider that we should institute a new "Peace Dividend" to help us out in this time of crisis, by reducing military spending.

Also, introducing new technological advances to create jobs is a good way to go too, like green energy advances.

Good idea. Let's declare the War on Poverty won and reduce entitlement spending.

The real question is why did the right "create" such a debt?

2.5 trillion tax cut
3 trillion in war
trillion stimulus package
Who knows how much wasted on Katrina cleanup that never happened?
Who know how much their drug package cost?

Then the left get's stuck with this mess. Worse, the Republicans, the very people who created this disaster, think they know how to clean it up? Are they insane?

ROFLMNAO...

National debt is roughly 12.5 trillion... the rolling tab for The Costs of the New Deal and The Great Society and subsequent expansions of those policy failures... is now roughly 12.5 trillion...

Hmmm....

The thing to understand, is that entitlement programs are DESIGNED to bankrupt the culture... where Americans went wrong, was we tolerated idiocy, on the absurd premise that 'they're Americans too... and they have a right to their opinion.'

Two things: There are no Leftist Americans... and there is no right to advaocate for immoral, unsound, unsustainable policy; the only potential result of which, is bankruptcy...

Hey. PIdiot. Hammer on Obama all you wish but take a look at what your boy Bush and the Grand Incompetent Party did over the past eight years.

David Walker called Bush "The biggest spending President in the history of the Republic." Now, maybe Obama is going to outdo him, but anyone who supported Bush over the past eight years who calls out Obama is a joke.

Republicans started caring about the debt as soon as they were out of power and realized that they wouldn't get to spend on what they wanted anymore.

No Carb, we never realized we could just "deem" laws passed or we would have privatized Social Security, closed the Department of Ed and pulled Freddie and Fannie back from the brink before the Dems shoved the US housing market off the cliff.

DEMOCRAT Jon Corzine was in the Senate and tried to fix Fannie and Freddie and the bill died in committee, ie, the Republican run committee, so enough with the feces.

And when you get 60 Senators to vote for privatizing Social Security, then you can do all the deeming you want.

Sure.. In your own world.

So tell me.. Why was I talking about the Deficit when Bush was in Power..

Don't start saying stuff when you can't even prove it.

Or..

I could also twist it around for yah..

Democrats stopped caring about the Deficit when Obama came in tower and realized they could spend on what they wanted.

And who got us back in that big debt?

We have been in debt for decades, but president Bush doubled our entire history's national debt in 8 years.

It looks like our debt will also double the next 10 years as well....and as toro's articles and charts and analysis SHOWS, we were put on that road to debt by President Bush's administration and congresses.

Obama is adding to the projected debt that Bush put us on the road to...

clinton administration and his congresses, put us on a road to surpluses.

Last time I looked it was Republicans that wanted NO cuts in Medicare and Social Security.
News flash to the ignorant and uninformed: Those 2 programs USED TO BE THE #1 area conservatives wanted massive cuts in.Republicans used to be smart.
Now Republicans are stupid as bat shit. Come election time they rally their dumb ass troops against queers getting married and abortion and vote in massive dope plans for seniors.
Where was your whiny ass when the Republican Congress passed the largest social program in 60 years so Grandpa can get his Viagra for free?
Republicans these days are dysfunctional. No wonder we get an inexperienced moron as President. The Republican base is a truck load of kooks.

Half true. Democrats also are to blame for at least half of the debt.
More like 65% of the debt.

Republicans started caring about the debt as soon as they were out of power and realized that they wouldn't get to spend on what they wanted anymore.
That's one problem that shouldn't be tolerated...not being able to spend money on what you need and want. In stead of "stimulus" spending on projects that stuff money into a few pockets (money that was extracted from taxpayers) we should release the same amount of money to the people (by way of tax cuts or direct payments) and let them spend it on whatever they wish, stimulating the local economy like no stimulus money has done to date.

The Clinton "surpluses" resulted from voodoo economics and redefinitions of things like spending cuts. You know it all depends on what the definition of is is.

simply not factual, the numbers speak for themselves....clinton with his congresses was the most fiscally responsible president in my lifetime...

not denying there were not redefinitions, there are under ALL presidents, just that Clinton did have a budget surplus, using the same gvt measures as used for president ghw bush's budget before him and president gw bush's budget after him....

FDR created Socialist Security, how much has that added to the US debt?
FDR spent like crazy during the Depression and WWII - ever hear of war bonds - how much of the US debt is due to that?
LBJ instituted Medifraud - more debt.

Take all those expenses away and the Republicans did not add so much - in fact without those expenses (prior debt and socialist programs) the Republicans added almost nothing.

You RDean frequently talk about how Obama is not responsible for any of the Debt resulting from programs instituted by earlier presidents, so why should Republican's be blamed for the actions of Democratic presidents?

Or are you talking with your forked tongue again?

If any of the righties cared, they'd help us do away with the Federal Reserve. Why is it in the hands of private bankers? Of course they are going to take advantage of that. And the more we go into debt, the richer they get. So they control our politics and our economy. They took out trillions and the righties cried about Obama spending billions?

And in the end, the debt will double and the righties will blame the Dems.

Then the GOP will take over and spend even more on defense. At least Democratic spending happens inside our borders and does good for the many, not the few.

My question is, "why didn't the GOP care when the economy was falling apart?" Instead they denied it until it was too late.

That's a bit of revisionist history, bub.

LOL, good comeback. Well done.

Can I pay off my Bush debt, and walk away from the clown show Obama debt? That would be awesome. You can have that swill, pro noblem.

YOU personally may have been talking about the deficit.

But the people you helped elect were only talking about it in terms of how it didn't matter.

Perhaps you might want to make damn sure that whomever your side gets elected next time lives up to what they claim their principles are.

just that Clinton did have a budget surplus, using the same gvt measures as used for president ghw bush's budget before him and president gw bush's budget after him....
Clinton had the most robust economy since the 50's.
Because of the internet, not any Democratic party policies.
He pissed away a chance to pay down the debt. Deficit spending is supposed to be paid back when times are good, and the times don't get better than Clinton had.
