He will lose because Americans will choose Jeffersonian ideals over Marxist ones. The main issues raised at the DNC convention are 'equal pay for equal work' ie the government decides wages not the free market, socialist health care, increasing the socialist centrally controlled education system, socialized energy, and socialized housing. All of these issues are in complete contrast with the basic idea of individual liberty, we will be forced to pay for Obama's buzzword of 'change'; change which hasn't been defined beyond its communist roots and intentions. Considering every implementation of socialism has failed drasticlly, I would think Obama would have to be more specific how he thinks he can actually make it work, and what he would do different from failed states such as Cuba, N Korea, and the USSR. Simple buzzwords do nothing to convince me he has discovered a way to make Marxism work. It has been proven impossible to make it work so he better start trying to convince how his brand is different from the other failed systems. China is reforming so it can be successful. Europe is reforming because socialism has done nothing but squander their great wealth and they cannot continue their pie in the sky path any longer. Obama may promise you a chicken but all your going to get is feathers, and those will be some very costly feathers.

If you are right, I'll failed capitalism to failed socialism any day of the week. Our unemployment rate is far better than the rate in any European socialist country. In some parts of the country (like here) we are under "frictional unemployment rates" anyway.

The theoretical full employment rate is 5%. So you are quibbling about less than 1% unemployment. Try living through a real recession. I remember when Carter was in office, it was so bad for so long, the economists wanted to move the "full employment" rate to 6% unemployment because they started to think we could never hit 5% again!!

C'mon, you're better than that. Making that argument is saying that there is absolutely no material difference between McCain and Obama upon which one can legitimately base a distinction. This is so patently false as to not require listing them. For instance, I'm not voting for either McCain or Obama. But, I'm not voting for Obama because he is a socialist and I will not vote for someone who espouses socialist policies....ever....period.

I'm not voting for McCain for pretty much the reasons you cite. Repubs as currently configured are a rutterless ship prone to excess. They have no restraint in their fiscal policies, foreign policy or social policy.
