Why magazine limits are dumb...this video shows why....

There is an ongoing discussion about magazine limits....and how they would either allow an attacker to be tackled, or allow innocent people to escape....

The following video was found thru thetruthaboutguns...and it goes thru the shooting of standard magazines, 15 rounds, then 10 rounds in a magazine and 6 rounds in a magazine....all to show how long it would take to shoot 30 rounds of both pistol and AR-15 ammunition with multiple magazine changes....

Keep in mind....the Sandy Hook killer was on scene for 15 minutes and killed himself before the police entered the building...in that time he murdered 26 human beings....

This video shows that magazine limits would do nothing to stop it....in fact, near the end, they use 6 shot revolvers to shoot 30 rounds simply dropping the empty pistol and pulling a new one.....this is at the 11:20 mark....and really shows how limiting magazines is stupid...since 5 revolvers achieve the same thing....

Now imagine a killer....who has no criminal record, passes whatever silly background checks the anti gunners want, gets licensed, and registers each one of his guns... just buys 5 revolvers over the period of a year, practices dropping them and drawing a new one and shooting...he has more than enough ammo to kill those 26 people...without an ar-15....

In a war zone? Sure..................large round magazines and clips are useful.

In civilian society? Not so much. Besides, if it takes you more than 3 shots to hit your target, you need to spend more time at the range.

And.................all those people who were doing rapid firing had LOTS of practice doing it. Most of your lunatics don't spend that much time practicing shooting, because they don't expect to live past the violence anyway.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to be hostile, just making a point as well. The argument here is that by limiting magazine capacity you force the guy to reload and allow people to rush him, or make mistakes reloading. The woman obviously wasn't highly trained...and these guys plan their attacks, months in advance, if not longer.

A nice point made in the video is that use an old pistol.....so even if you banned modern semi autos, you still can't prevent these killers from killing....

They practice because they want to kill as many people as possible before the good guys with the guns show up....and they keep adapting....a few of the killers who were captured before their attacks planned on killing the only person with a gun at the school...the police liaison officer, first....that way the gun free zone would still be gun free and no one could confront them with a gun....

This shows what you can do at the shooting range with magazines placed nicely in front of you on a barrel and shooting forward in a low stress situation. When was the last time a mass shooter brought a barrel? This video is ridiculous, these people are just showing how dumb they are.

The Giffords shooter was stopped at reload. That is a real situation where lives were saved. This video is just embarrassing.

And at Fort Hood....three soldiers rushed the shooter, two were killed, and one was wounded, none of them was successful....a gun free zone....yes, even on a military base, where the victims were unarmed and he changed magazines repeatedly and killed many people....

No, wearing magazine pouches does not make it easier. For many obvious reasons. I even posted a video of a guy having a nice fail trying to get his magazine. Your claim it is easier is just plain ridiculous and goes against physics. Sorry you lose on that front.

And I posted several examples where magazine limits would save lives. You still haven't given any examples however of a hero needing a hi cap magazine.

This thread is even more relevant after France.....

France has stricter gun control laws than we do.....not only can you not have a 10 round magazine...you can't have any magazine...or gun......and yet...3 terrorists, one a convctied criminal on a government terrorist watch list got their hands on fully automatic Russian rifles, a rocket propelled grenade and hand grenades....while the French citizens who were targeted and those who were watching, had no guns or magazines for those non existant guns......

magazine limits only effect law abiding people.........

Mexico...strict gun control....government and drug cartels have all the standard magazines they need to kill

Puerto Rico.....strictest gun control in the United States and it's territories......one of the highest gun murder rates in the world....no problem getting standard magazines for their illegal guns......
