Police in England spotted two motorcycle thieves. It was in broad daylight with plenty of personnel and they already had a statement from the bikes' owner, who had seen them briefly and thought she could identify them. Slam dunk, right? Wrong. The police did not chase the thieves because the thieves had no helmets on and the police were worried about being sued if they gave chase and either thief suffered serious injury. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/01/27/nchase27.xml This is what you get when frivilous lawsuits occur and judges refuse to set aside idiotic verdicts made by juries who rely on insurance companies to pay all the damages. People are afraid to do anything anymore because of lawsuits. When people sue, very rarely does anybody win except the lawyers.
