I believe gays and lesbians should be treated the same as heterosexuals. I believe that anything less then marriage is treating gays and lesbians as seperate but equal. I believe gays and lesbians should enjoy every benefit over 1,000 legal benefits and protections that straight people get when they get married.

I dont believe in half equality, or 75% eqaulity, I believe in full 100% equality for gays in the workplace, in marriage, hate crimes protection and others

While I don't really care about the gay marriage issue, I do get tired of the discimination argument. Gays and lesbians are treated EXACTLY like heterosexuals in regards to current marriage laws. Heterosexuals are only allowed to marry someone of the opposite sex as well. Marriage laws say NOTHING about love. If what you're wanting is to allow gays and lesbians to be treated differently from heteros, then just say so. Stop the false , "Gays are being disciminated against "crap.

thats horshit, gays are not attracted to/nor love an opposite sex partner. your argument is horse shit my friend

And blacks were treated exactly the same as Whites during the slave days. All rich, white, landed gentry had certain rights and powers. That law was applied to everyone

Oh, they had the right to marry people their own color, too- but SCOTUS already called bullshit on that

A little reading comprehension is a wonderful thing. You might want to try it. I don't care whether gays get married or not. It's not my business. I simply pointed out that it's tiresome to listen to people screaming for equality when that's NOT what they want. You might find that it's easier to gain support from people if you're actually honest about what you're asking for. Geez. just stand up and say that you'd like the laws to be changed to include love and desire. People can respect honesty. Try it and you'll see that.

Two men getting married or two women getting married,

is not equal to a man and a women getting married.

Blacks and whites were treated the same during the slave days? Really? You must have had a different history text than I did because mine read that blacks were not considered equal and suffered true discrimination compared to other men and women. SCOTUS did indeed correctly call bullshit on color as a factor in marriage. People are equal no matter what their color under the current marriage laws. Until the laws factor love into the equation, then discrimination is the wrong argument for gay marriage.

If gays get their so-called marriage equality, would it stop there? Or would that be the starting point to begin to file grievances?

For example - Mr. Smith owns a small business and has employed two male workers, A and B, for twenty years. A is married and has three kids; the health insurance Smith provides takes care of their needs. B has never married, and his health benefit covers just him.

Once gay marriage is passed - can B sue Mr. Smith for twenty years of denied health benefits? He can say he's homosexual and WOULD have been married, and thus his spouse covered, but it wasn't allowed.

Now he wants twenty years' worth of health benefits, will sue and bankrupt Smith if necessary. And the kicker is - who knows whether B is telling the truth? Maybe he's gay, or maybe he's always resented A and wants venegeance for some slight or other.

If you think lawsuits like this won't be on the way, you don't understand human nature. So: will gay marriage outlaw this type of suit in all fifty states?

Marriage is never retroactive and no law can ever be, either

I'm not sure what you mean by marriage being "retroactive" - but I'm pretty sure black fire fighters have sued and won over the issue that whites were given extra credit on applications for promotion, because of time the white firemen served - during years when blacks weren't allowed on the force.

wf? Clarify? You're bitching that they got credit for having experience?

That's not retroactively enforcing a law. That's preventing any further discrimination. The reason they won was because they were being discriminated against in the present/future by not having an equal shot at promotions. It wouldn't work withe the situation you gave because person B isn't being denied health insurance for his partner anymore.

I don't like paying taxes.

Does that mean I have the right to evade taxation?

No.

Similarly, the preferences of gays and lesbians does not merit a change in law nor a public outcry of "discrimination".

Marriage in a legal sense is not about love.

If it was, they would permit brothers to marry sisters, cousins to marry cousins, adults to marry minors, and among many other instances of "love".

Unless you're prepared to prohibit no one from marrying the object of their desire, then you cannot claim discrimination.

Oh man, another Wacky Lackey out preaching for Weirdo Equality.

They choose to be weirdo's and society is expected to create special rights for them?

Nature explained it well how things are meant to be, anything beyond that is a choice to be a freak!

Hey Martin, I suppose your going to tell me that you have ovaries in your rectum? LOL

Shit a baby then ask for equality, FREAK! :whip:

You know what you really need to tell us? Why YOUR definition of "equality" is the correct one. Because until then, you're just spouting nonsense and expecting the rest of us to argue based on YOUR premise.

I don't know about anyone else, but I make it a point of honor to NEVER accept anyone else's parameters for a debate.

I'll be waiting for you to hit the REAL crux of the debate.
