Why don't people rise up?

.

Hey, here's an idea:

Talk show host Michael Savage, the third most listened-to show in the country (I am not making this up), says we need "A Nationalist party in the United States of America" (I am not making this up):

Radio host Michael Savage calls for 'Nationalist' third party to challenge GOP | syracuse.com

Absolutely wonderful line from the piece: Savage added that the word "nationalism" needs to be redefined after previously being associated with Hitler and the National Socialist Party, the Nazis, of 1930s Germany.

Great stuff, run with it. Today!

.

evidently you listen to him

No, I don't know if he's on the air here in Colorado Springs.

But, your attempt at diversion aside, ain't it a great idea???

Aw, gee......you're in The Springs??!!!!

Why don't people rise up?.

Every politically controlled educational system will inculcate the doctrine of state supremacy sooner or later. . . . Once that doctrine has been accepted, it becomes an almost superhuman task to break the stranglehold of the political power over the life of the citizen. It has had his body, property and mind in its clutches from infancy. An octopus would sooner release its prey.

A tax-supported, compulsory educational system is the complete model of the totalitarian state. –

Rise up?

Americans are fat, dumb and lazy

They are unwilling to make the most basic sacrifice. They want low taxes and endless entitlements. Why would they rebel against that?

There's the answer, only people who have nothing left to lose put themselves on the line against the establishment and most Americans still have plenty to protect. On the other hand the numbers of Americans who used to have plenty and now have little or nothing is still growing and all these freedom loving conservatives will not be on their side under any circumstances. They enjoy punishing the poor no matter how they got that way and if there is ever a popular uprising in this country it is pretty easy to see where these "patriots" will side.

Who is John Galt?

A mythical character in the mythical world of libertarians

Yeah those guys are just in the revolution fantasy league, if the shit really hits the fan they would never elect to fight or die for their cause because at their core this ultimate form of altruism is an alien and unsavory concept. At the most they might die to protect their own stuff but other people's stuff or freedom? Forget it. Revolutions are fought by the young and these people offer nothing to the youth of America except contempt and mistrust, certainly nothing that would make it worth it for the twenty-somethings to go out and fight in the streets to protect some geezer's right to be his own kingdom.

Correct.

The reactionary world of libertarians and rightwing extremists; a pathetic fantasy predicated on an idealized view of America’s past that never actually existed in the first place.

Yeah, those silly little things called "right's". What a complete waste of time, effort, and resources. It's so much better if we all march goose-step style towards "the good of the whole" and "dear leader". SIEG HAIL!!!!

This sort of hyperbolic idiocy is one of many reasons why few, if any, take libertarianism seriously.

Truth hurts, doesn't it Clayton? You guys hate when someone points out what you truly support.

By the way, I absolutely fucking hate libertarians. Shows how fucking radical you wing-nut dumbocrats have become when you can't even differentiate between a conservative and libertarian...

oh boy:rolleyes:

Come on Stephanie - you need to get on board here. Forget about America, forget about rights, and pretend like Capitalism doesn't work. Just goose-step FORWARD past the Constitution and right on to what's "good" for the collective.

Libertarianism is pretty much a natural reaction to government over-reach. It is a recent force and is building ground, otherwise it would not be the issue it obviously is.

If government is held in check, so will libertarianism. When either is left unchecked they feed the other, leading to a further polarization of the country. It really is that simple.

In the unlikely event that the government actually turned overtly tyrannical you "patriots" would hide like cowards and attempt to protect yours through collaboration and selling out your neighbors while much more courageous people faced down the tyrants. No one as self interested and full of fear as libertarians could ever stage a successful revolution.

You started with reasonable rebuttal to over-reach, but then self-imploded to a a vacuous over-reach of your own.

Is there some kind of forum where people can actually discuss questions like these, or am I being horribly naive?

Think what you like but libertarians are the worst kind of cowards and yes you are being horribly naive if you think any of them would sacrifice a damned thing for freedom when they cry like spoiled little bitches over minor crap and have built a sham political movement on shameless whining.

They have been subjected to far more government surveillance, media condemnation, police harassment, unlawful arrest, and all the things that libertarians fear yet libertarians tend to side with the government that they are dangerous and need to be stopped.
