I essentially agree. In NYC the power and gas are privately owned, just heavily regulated. Only water and sewer is government run.

And to me I wonder if you want a private company owning 8 Reservoirs and having control over a water supply. Private water companies make more sense with well/groundwater systems.

At least that's the beginning of an honest discussion.

I say we need more. Not as much maybe as Sweden but enough to mitigate the harm that capitalism can cause

Sweden isn't socialist, it's a Welfare State. They regulate their industries far less than we do, they just tax the everloving daylights out of them, and the people.

Socialists are nothing without their economic illiteracy.

The forum's ultimate dope, referring to people keeping more of what is theirs to begin with as "free stuff".

Now its taking your hard earned money, using it to buy illegals with government handouts paid for by you. The ultimate goal being granting illegals amnesty and the right to vote, purchasing their vote with your money, to cancel out your vote.

What do you mean nobody complains?...They complain all the time.

    Our crumbling roads and bridges!
    Our crumbling schools!
    The cops are killing everyone!
They drink bottled water instead of what comes out of their taps.
The DMV and post office are frequent laments of gubmint inefficiency.

They complain about all this and more....But socialism is still the greatest thing since the wheel!

The issue currently is that local politicians are too often more concerned about "global" issues than local ones.

Repairing infrastructure is HARD, Making schools work is HARD, Making places like the DMV work efficiently is BORING, Having a working water system is BORING.

Then you have issues like police/citizen interaction and pension issues, which are third rails best avoided.

But passing worthless laws about global warming? Banning Straws? Declaring yourself a Sanctuary city? Those things are EASY.
