Why do conservatives prefer a socialist candidate like Bush or McCain to conservative candidate such as Ron Paul?
I think the thing is, you PaulBots just live in your own weird little world... that isn't even a nice place to visit much less live.

Are you really saying the Republicans haven't been for Big Government in recent years? Because that would be astounding. The Republican Party is only slightly less Socialist/Progressive than the other Party is. It certainly couldn't be called a Conservative party at this point. Hopefully that will change but i'm not seeing it yet.

Little Government Conservatism drowned during Katrina, and unlike everyone else who did, no one will miss it. We want government to be there when we need it. So what the GOP should be for is SMART government, not big government.
Many Americans love Big Government. They may love it for different reasons but they do love it.

Nonsense.
You post as if it were some simple choice, vanilla or chocolate. Its not.
The size of government is appropriate for a First World, industrialized superpower with a modern economy. The Constitution says nothing as to what size the government must be, how many Federal workers, number of departments or agencies, or what its budget should be.
Its this very unrealistic naïveté that renders Paul unfit to be president and his supporters equally clueless and reactionary.
Are you really saying the Republicans haven't been for Big Government in recent years?
No. Republicans have been for big government for well over one hundred years, if not longer.

Well then many of them should stop claiming they are for small Government Conservativism. Because obviously they're lying. If they are for Big Government Progressivism, then just be honest and say that. And when or if they do say that,it will be time for a viable Third Party.
