Did you watch the video?

It brings up by lot of good points.

I didn't need to. I've talked to plenty of Muslim women..and back in the day I even dated one from Egypt.

Some were happy to wear the headress some weren't. So long as it's up to them..I think its fine.

Too bad you didn't watch it.

Because it took a middle ground and presented both sides.

And had to do with commercialism and consumerism.

But you did like many people here will do and post based on preconceived notions and idea's without looking at the subject matter. :doubt:

It's possible to be western and anti-consumerist, silly Sunni. I am.

Why must you always post false dichotomies about western women??? WHYYYYY???? ;)

So Western women are "oppressed" because they choose to conform to western style of clothing.

But hey! Its perfectly OK to beat and rape your Muslim wife! Nor should a woman be able to drive!
Thats not oppression!

Fucking lunatic.

Saudi Arabia is the only country I am aware of that does not grant women the privilege to drive.

But most of them do not care because the majority have chauffeurs to drive them.

Fair enough.

Oman has the same culture. So, after leaving my posting in Oman, and going to Muslim Malaysia, one of my Omani buddies was transfered with me. He had five children and two wives. The wives did not know how to drive, so he had to take the kids to school, pick them up for lunch, take them back, and pick them up from school and take them home. Understandably, he was tired alot. I don't know if it was because he had two wives.

I doubt that anyone can view a Muslim as the same with all the constant terrorism that goes on.
If you can have your beliefs and follow the law, then I'd feel alot more comfortable around you.
But I STILL distrust your beliefs.

And, Sunni.
Why all these threads?

It seems that Western women are the ones all up in arms about Saudi women not having the privilege to drive. Whereas it is a non-issue with 99% of the Saudi women.

I am sure that your friend was tired and not from too much sex. Having two wives and complete household would be a tremendous emotional and economic strain on most any man.

Recently a friend of mine went and talked to the Imam about taking on a second wife.

The Imam told him, " Why would you want another headache".

I'd hardly put up Saudi Arabia has a place that cares what women think.

Seriously.

You can not put 1.X Billion people into one category. No matter which religion.

One of the most humorous things that I found out about Saudi Arabia.

Is that the Saudi men are the most hen pecked of all the husbands in the Gulf States.

Saudi wives set the whole household agenda and determine where they will go and who their friends will be among other things.
